Ok, so don’t laugh—I bought this Barbie doll for my mother. Yes, a grown adult-behind woman, and proudly so! My mom collects Barbie dolls now because growing up, she never had dolls of her own. She was one of 11 children, raised alone by my grandmother after my grandfather passed away. Times were tough, and there was no room in the budget for toys. But once all of us kids were grown and gone, she started collecting the Barbies she could never have. So when I saw this Madam C.J. Walker Barbie, I knew it had to be a part of her collection, especially since Madam. C.J. Walker was the first female self-made millionaire in America, a pioneer i haircare and business—especially for Black women. She’s an icon of empowerment, beauty, and resilience, which makes her such a meaningful addition to my Mom’s display collection. The doll is beautifully crafted, with attention to detail that honors Madam Walker’s legacy in both appearance and spirit. My Mom absolutely loved it. It now sits proudly among her collection, and we both smile every time we see it—because it represents more than just a doll. It represents how far we’ve come and the women who made that possible. I highly recommend this to collectors, gift-givers, or anyone who values representation, history, and a touch of nostalgia.

I am a Blythe doll collector but when I saw this Barbie doll, I have to have her. The main reason for that is her face looks just like my mom! I'm half specific islander and Chinese but I have white skin. My mom who is specific islander has much darker skin tone than usual so she looks as she could be black. Anyhow, this beautiful doll got everything resemble her. Her beautiful face, heavier body, her warm smile and a peace vibe I'm getting from this doll. My mom who has very dark skin but her personality and her heart is the purest on this earth. She always wear a bright color shirt in her 40' with a glasses. I'm finally gonna have to get a vintage style glasses for her and maybe straighten her hair out later. One thing I don't like about this doll though, she doesn't come with underwear! How come?!?
