Simply The Most Effective Book on The Subject For Beginners
I've been through a ton of information, and this is the most helpful and useful.Having just started this book and had a good flip through the content, I can see that it takes me through every detail of knowledge needed to tear down, clean and reassemble.Additionally, there is a wealth of extra information about common issues and breaking down and repairing individual items. There is a good length to the book and plenty of detailed diagrams. The basic makeup of a watch is largely unchanged, so ignore the concerns in other comments about pictures not being from the past decade... it does not matter. This book gives you the knowledge you need to work with virtually any timepiece, and the gaps can easily be filled in with a quick google search for your specific movement.I've included pics of the contents as something I wish I could have seen before buying. However, I was glad to see how much was covered and feel like this is a helpful manual for tackling watch repair.I've sourced a lot of info, which is one of the best guides I've found.

Perfect Book for Beginners
Stop faffing about and buy this book! This book is quite simply a Master Piece. Try describing in words the intricate workings of how a watch operates. The book was written many years ago, but nothing significant has changed and the book has stood the test of time. Why is it still in print? Because it's still one of the best! See attached the detailed illustrations. It is full of exploded views and text describing the detail of operations. It's a "Haynes Manual" for watches, when accompanied by pictures and images from the Web, as well as countless free Youtube videos, you'll be well set for having some Fun with Watches. Hope this helps.

A exlant book for old school type watchmakers.
This reprint off a original American book is very good, for people who wish to actually make - repair watches. The book is A5 size just a little larger than the original and a big improvement.
