Works well!
I have bought 3 other rain gauges. The first one was glass. It would get dirty inside & was hard to clean because it had a narrow opening. It was also hard to see the water measurement unless you got close to it. The next two were a hard plastic. These were easy to see but they both yellowed in time and cracked. I have had this one for about a month. I was surprised when my husband included the removable ground stake when he mounted it on the fence. It makes sense though because it keeps it from moving when the clear bracket the stake has is attached to a nail. You can see it in the 2nd picture I posted. The things I like about this one are: 1. It’s silicone so it won’t break or yellow (I hope it won’t yellow in time!). 2. It’s very easy to see at a distance - big numbers and red ring that shows the water level. 3. It’s easy to attach to a fence - all you need is 2 nails for the brackets to sit on. 4. It’ll measure up to 7 inches of rain - the other I had only measured 6. The one thing you have to be careful with is where you pour out the water because the red ring falls out and you don’t want to lose it.

No more broken glass ones. This baby will last for a long time! Easy to read too.
After breaking the glass one we had 2 years in a row after replacing it, we said no more! Nice and big with a red ring inside so you can easily see the amount of rain in the gauge. Great value/price. Would buy again and recommend to others.

Easy to read, and no worries about water freezing and cracking it.
I really like this rain gauge (1) because it's soft and pliable and won't break if I forget to bring it indoors before a freezing night, (2) the numbers and incremental markings are large so they're easy to read from inside the house (albeit I do have to use my monocular to get closer), and the red floater makes it easy to distinguish what the level is as I'm trying to read it from inside the house using my monocular. My last rain gauge was hard plastic, and it worked beautifully, until one really cold night when the water collected earlier in the day froze and cracked it badly. I don't have to be concerned about that happening with this one. I think Taylor did a great job with this.

Finally a rain gauge that will not crack and you can leave it outside year round!
I have gone through 2 frost proof unbreakable rain gauges that cracked during the winter just like all the rest. This gauge seems to be truly different since it is flexible silicone. I believe that I finally have a rain gauge that you can leave outside year round without worrying about it cracking. Great product that was needed in the market. It fits perfectly in my existing rain gauge holder, it seems well made and the floating red ring makes reading the gauge very easy.

The gauge is easy to read and will not break
I really like the rain gauge itself. The plastic base that you can stick in the ground or hang on a screw could be better designed. I have both of mine hanging on a screw and when it is windy the wind will tip the rain gauge one way or the other. If there were two spaces for screws this would not be possible and would be an improvement. I also think that the $19.99 price was a little expensive. That's why I give this four stars instead of five. But overall I am happy with these devices and still believe they are better than the other options that I found. They do appear to provide an accurate measurement of the rainfall amount.

Great little rain gauge
Great little old-school rain gauge. Easy to read and very accurate compared to my electronic one.

Good size and shape -- fits "off-brand" metal holder
I bought this flexible, siliconized rain gauge from Taylor to replace a cylindrical glass one that shattered the first time we experienced a frost this season. Because it tapers towards the bottom, it both facilitates dumping out an ice plug if one forms inside, and it fits a range of metal stands made to hold rain gauge columns. I was able to substitute this item for the broken glass cylinder, and resume monitoring rainfall as if nothing had gone wrong in the first place. I also like the fact that a bright red floating ring lies within the column, and makes the water level inside very easy to read. I knew I could count on Taylor Instruments to produce a reliable, durable product that is easy to use.

Yay, Silicone & Unbreakable!
So far, gauge is working well. I like that it is silicone. I had a hard plastic one that I only got to use 3 months because water froze in it and it cracked. It was supposed to not crack from freezing...LOL! This silicone gauge fit perfectly inside the stand of my previous rain gauge. This has a good thickness and it isn't sticky. I think this one should last a few years since it is silicone. The measuring guide is easily to read.
