Got it for my daughter a year or two ago and it works just fine

Have never purchased refurbished item before- very pleased with paper white signature kindle- love the ability for brightness and warmth! Well worth the purchase!

It is a nice display, and there are no glare issues when out in the sun I wish the book covers showed in color, that’s part of the draw of a book, to be able to see the colored cover It’s sort of annoying how you have to hold down the power button for so long just to shut off the screen. It also just reboots every now and then and kicks me out of my book.

I love it, and the battery lasts much longer than other versions. I use it all the time.

I have a Kindle Fire 8 and use it a lot. I was wondering if the paperwhite would be easier on my eyes than the glossy screen on the Fire. It turns out that the Paperwhite has a very soft matt finish, which keeps the room light from shining off of the screen and into my eyes. I have not tried this out in the sun yet. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I can change the font to the smallest size and read it with no problems or distortion. The brightness needed to be turned up some, but the results are beautiful to my eyes and comfortable for them as well. This turned out to be a great purchase and getting the refurbished model saved me a bit of cash that can be used to buy a few more books. That is a win/win in my book.

I've had this for about 2 years, purchased October 2023. I bought it refurbished. For the two years and two months I've used it, it's been reliable. Overtime, however, the Kindle started to crash. It stopped connecting to the Kindle Storefront. It also became difficult to access the library. In general, it held up well for a refurbished product. With the new models out, I'm going to be upgrading. It just started losing battery, it loses full battery within a few days. This is a recent issue I attribute to its age and refurbishment. I will say that my iPad, purchased refurbished at the same time, is holding up much better. For those who have an iPad and want to save money, download the Kindle app on there. For me, I find that, despite the winning features of using the Kindle app on an iPad, I still prefer the lightweight, comfort-size portability of the Kindle. I also like the distraction-free focus of this product. For those who told me, "you can just turn off the other apps and make the iPad distraction-free," I'd rather have something that's built for that function. With increasing tech diversity in the home for multiple purposes, I like this for my distraction-free, silent, reading. I travel a lot and it also fits in about any purse or backpack I carry. I also get migraines, tension and ocular. This has been pretty migraine-friendly when light is triggering. Happy reading x
