Amazing paper for fountain pens!
I had seen this paper a couple of times online and decided to give a try, not expecting much. Well IMO it is amazing!! I'm surprised more people aren't talking about it. I'm a huge fan of the old Tomoe River paper and was so sad they discontinued it. I tried out the new Sanzen Tomoe River paper and while I think it's a good alternative, I don't think it's as nice as the old stuff. Most notably, I feel the new Sanzen TR paper tends to feather more, especially with broader and wetter nibs. This iroful is soo nice for fountain pens because there is virtually no feathering, even with thick, juicy nibs. Lines are super crisp and ink colors are so vibrant! Iroful paper is less crinkly and feels a little more cushioned than Tomoe paper, but it is so satisfying and pleasant to write on. This paper does make some nibs look a little wider, but it doesn't bother me. Because the paper is thicker, there is less ghosting and no bleed through. This has become my new favorite paper and I hope it will be easier to find in notebook form :) If you like broad, thick nibs or are looking for a high quality, no feathering paper, I highly recommend trying this out!

Better Than Tomoe River Paper
I liked the original Tomoe River paper but it’s discontinued. This iroful paper is made by the same company. In my opinion it’s not a replacement for TRP but even better. It shows off the shades and sheens of inks really well and it is very smooth to write on. This paper is thicker than the Midori MD paper. It also makes the lines appear slightly broader. I got 100 A5 sheets for about $10, which is not bad at all. Highly recommend it for serious fountain pen users.

Amazing paper - strange printing choice
This paper is some of the best for fountain pens. I love it. I was surprised to find, however, that the dot grid pattern is only on the front side. I guess it's my fault for not reading the description closely enough, but this decision makes the paper unusable for my intended purpose - which is to construct pocket notebooks with it. I find it very strange to have dot grid pattern only on one side. Even if I was using this loose-leaf for note-taking I would want the pattern to be consistent on each side of the page. Oh well - still great paper that I will enjoy using.

Good paper for Fountain Pens
Great for Fountain Pens and a little texture to it but not enough to keep the nib from gliding over the paper. It shows sheening, shimmer and shading properties. I will buy this again.

Different
I'm always comparing to the original Tomoe River 52gsm paper. This has a nice feel on one side & a texture on the other side. My fountainpens seem to catch a bit on the paper & I use a clipboard to write. It doesn't show color properties that I like to see, so I probably won't re-purchase.

Super smooth and ink shows beautifully
This paper is super smooth and shows shading from inks beautifully! This is much thicker and smoother than Tomoe River paper, and in my opinion, shows off ink even better!

Excellent for fountain pens
After Tomoe paper was reformulated, I've been looking for another brand that I liked equally. My inks dazzle on this paper and show off beautiful colors, shading, and shimmer. I've got all of my friends ordering it now. It's a great price as well. The only drawback is the natural oils on your skin can make the ink skip so be careful not to drag your hand and definitely don't wear lotions!

Why not both sides? Paper works good with fountain pens.

This paper shows very well the shading and variation of color in fountain pen ink. I use it to write beautiful notes to my penpals, everyone loves it.

Excellent paper for showing off shading and sheen of most fountain pen inks, and when it does boy it transform iyour writing experience. Note however, that your lines will become sliglhty wider. Like most Japanese papers expect longer dry times than papers like Rhodia. The reason I give 4 stars is that the paper seems to be sensitive to hand oils. So, I need to put a piece of paper under my hand when I write.
