Used for Fountain Pen Ink, excellent. Broken Cap fixed.
First things first, the bottle came with a broken cap. The lid part was broken right off from the rest of it, so it would have started evaporating through the small hole right after I broke the seal, but I fixed that. It just so happened that I had the cap for a bottle of coca-cola lying around, and (after washing it off) it happened to fit perfectly. It did, however, make it more difficult to pour the coloring out more carefully without the tinier hole on the real cap. So, if yours comes with a broken cap, a coca cola cap will mostly fix that. Pepsi probably won't work because Pepsi << Coca-cola (In physics, << means so much less than that the other one isn't worth consideration). Anyways, I used this food coloring for fountain pen ink, so what I will say next probably won't apply for cooks and whatnot. It's a great red, excellent flow, and had no terrible issues with any of my pens. I don't have any REALLY high end pens, but if it works for mine (most expensive ones I have are a Lamy Safari and a Hero 100, the second of which was a gift), it should work for a meisterstuck or something. It typically dries actually a tad faster than the average real ink, but not even comparably as fast as Bernanke blue or other quick dry inks. One thing to be noted is that food coloring is not waterproof at all whatsoever. I put this color with some other real inks I had (mostly noodler's, but only a few deemed "bulletproof") on one sheet of paper, then put it under the tap, and in an instant, the food coloring ink was gone (well, not that fast, but you get the idea). This could be detrimental, or useful in some way, if you're worried about stains. If you want a writing sample with McCormick Red, comment below and I'll upload one. Otherwise, I'm just far too lazy to post a writing sample that people don't want to see anyway.

Food color for hobbies
I needed primary colors to dye wood blocks for use by children. This is the only product that has enough volume to allow for use when making multiple products or dying not so small pieces. It worked well. The colors produced were vibrant and stable, when mixed with vinegar. Highly recommend this product for hobbits/woodworking use if you need a non-toxic dye. This red became deeper the longer it soaked. Not fire engine deep, but a nice result.

GOOD VALUE
My grandchildren love Red Velvet cake--thus I use this product often. It will stain your hands for a little while but well worth the color to please my family.

Great to use to create fake blood for Halloween DIY fountains
Used this to color the water in my DIY planters to turn the water to blood and the red turned out perfect—bold, dramatic, and spooky. Dipped the planters, let gravity do the rest, and it held its color even in outdoor light. Came with an extra seal across the top to prevent any spills. If you’re doing DIY props or themed decor, this bottle’s got you covered and lasts a pretty good while. Its pretty concentrated so a little goes a long way when it comes to consistency. Not terribly messy to use, but can stain clothes if you're not careful. Tastes bland.

ONE HAPPY BAKER
If you bake and require a lot of food coloring, this is the way to go. I was making a red velvet cheesecake for Thanksgiving and it required 1/4 cup of red food coloring. The only thing you can buy in stores are those tiny little bottles. I was so relieved to find this bottle of McCormick - a brand that is well known and that I could trust. The bottle has a hinged plastic cap with a small hole so you can squeeze out smaller amounts or take the lid off and pour a larger quantity. I am very pleased with this purchase.

The cap was broken when I received it. Now I need to look for a replacement bottle to transfer the liquid into. Sigh
