A couple of years ago Mud Wasps took up home in our high-efficiency furnace vent. I use this to cover the opening - cut it larger than needed, folded around the pipe like a coffee filter, held in place with a stainless clamp. No more Mud Wasps. Also use it on the shed in several spots - I made some large air vents to keep the shed vented year round (gas fumes, fertilizer fumes, etc.) - these keep out the bugs. I also put a panel inside the roof vent - it's a crank-open sunroof style that I'll leave open all summer. It keeps out bugs and so far Squirrels have not been a problem. I cut it with my tin-shears and fold the edges with my duct-folding tools. A thin steel ruler will also work.
