Great Product
Update: 12/13/2015 So I have been using this mask for a few months now and the sleeve straps broke on both sides. Now I did not change my review because this mask really works, I mean my workouts which are doing 4 miles (1 hour) on the BowFlex Max Trainer M5 every day are much better when using this mask. You really feel the difference. Now why do the straps break, I can theorize the sweat and constant usage wear them out. Look gym shoes wear out and you need to replace them from usage. I would say it would be nice if they used a higher quality neoprene but that may not help. Overall this is a really good idea and product. Maybe a design change in needed. But overall one needs to replace their gym shoes once per year so maybe the straps on this mask are the same idea. I closing I believe the strap issue is out weighted by the products benefits. So I still recommend this mask but know that you will probably need to replace the sleeve from time to time. Also you may want to check e-bay for lower prices. This product is fantastic. Let me first start off by the facts I have experienced. I use this mask once per day for 1 hour on the 9,000 foot level. Using the bowflex MAX Trainer M5 with an average of 600 calories burned. This mask really gives me a harder workout, I feel more tired and like I have been going longer then 1 hour. The real difference for me is the after workout period, I feel more awake, more alert and have a clearer mind for the whole day. I love using this product. Now to address some of the complaints and reality. 1) It does make you work harder to breath, the point of the mask in the first place. 2) If you meditate while exercising, and by this I mean focus on controlled breathing it creates a amazing experience. You really feel great and then by the end you are so exhausted you really feel rejuvenated 2) Wear the mask I few minutes prior to starting a cardio workout. Do not put it on and immediately hit the tread mill, bike or elliptical. Get used to it. 3) Yes you need to do 90% of our breathing through your mouth, but you do not need to have a mouth gaping open, think scuba diving breathing. 4) It does take a little time to get used to it, but once you do it is like your favorite exercise tool. 5) If you feel it is falling off use the extra head strap, I do because it feels a bit more secure. My point is that this mask will help your workout a lot. You need to relax, and go with it. If you have ever snorkeled or scuba dived then the experience is a breeze, very similar. This is a great product and the results you will see from using it are awesome. If you are not sure go to a army surplus store and try on a gas mask with filter, how do you feel can you control your breathing or do you panic. If you cannot then this is not the tool for you, if you can then this will be a good tool for you. This item may not be for everyone, you need to be focused this is not a tool for the gym once per week. If you are serious about getting into great shape then this will help you out.

Weaksauce need not apply.
The first time I saw this mask was at the gym (Like everyone else I'm guessing). Then it got me curious...After doing some research it seemed like a good idea to check it out. It took me awhile because I was terrified of the sizing chart. That is not accurate at all. By weight? Come on son! So after that 1+ year of research I finally ordered one. The materials are pretty basic though...Who knew some stretchy sleeve, rubber and plastic could run you $80. Anyway, it fit well on me and it sure did it's job of restricting my breathing. You're occasionally gasping for air in between workouts and when you rip it off, it's awesome because you can totally breath. It's kind of like sitting in the heat for hours on end and then walking into an air conditioned building. Now to the workout stuff: Look, this piece of equipment is definitely helpful for you if you want to improve your breathing. Breathing better, more oxygen to your blood and you're performance during your workouts increases, even if it's marginal. Personally, I feel you get the best results when you're doing circuit training or cardio. I'm 5'9" and 251 lbs of danger. I work out for strength and I do plenty of olympic lifts. I'm one of the worst when it comes to cardio. With this mask, I'm already seeing signs of improvement in my cardio in terms of distance. Sure I had to stop and walk from time to time because I felt like passing out, but after doing the same thing without the mask, I was able to run a mile without stopping! Yes, that's a HUGE improvement in my standards. Again, I feel you can maximize the use of the mask when you have minimal rest time. Here's the big problem I have with several people wearing this mask: -I see sorry looking people that looked like they've never worked out in their life at the gym and they start off with this mask. No joke, I've watched a guy do 3 halfwitt pull-ups, 6 knee pushups, and then do a fake jump rope in place for like 8 secs....All in 6 minutes. You don't wear this mask to look cool at the gym. I'm thinking the thought of wearing such a high profile looking piece of equipment makes some people feel like they're better than others. Especially when you're a gym newbie. STOP! You know who you are. -DO NOT DO YOUR ONE REP MAX OR EXTREMELY HEAVY WEIGHT WITH THIS MASK! Look, it's cool to wear it for performance and all, but when you're testing yourself to the point of potential injury, you want to make sure you're body is prepared for it. You ever NOT breath while you're lifting? It's freakin' bad man. I'm sure you've seen the Youtube video of a guy deadlifting 315lbs and then passing out. It's like that. -USE IT RIGHT! You really think throwing this mask on, hitting the gym like you normally would, will make you like Bane? NO! That's like wearing UnderArmour and all of a sudden you think you can put another set of plates on the bar. NO NO NO NO! Read reviews. People talk about improving their cardio which in turn, helps with your overall performance while working out. I have yet to see a review say, "Ya totally bought this mask, wore it for about 2 months and now I'm benching 3 plates." I'd never wear this at the gym. The only time I would wear this at the gym is if it was a crossfit gym and I wanted to challenge myself with one of those ridiculous workouts that destroy your soul and body. I use this for running, jump rope, and baby versions of crossfit workouts at home. 1 workout example 200 53kg kettlebell swings (10-20 per set) and then 5-10 pushups and try not to rest. Doing that alone is painful. And now you're going to restrict you're breathing. But hey, this is one workout I've been doing to help. In conclusion, it's a good product but expensive. Use it right and wisely. And do yourself a favor: When you first put it on, it sounds awesome so get all of your Bane and Darth Vader impressions out of the way right there. I spent about 20 minutes talking like Bane. I turned to the South Park episode that had the Bane impressions and repeated what they said.

This product is really good. It really does help you work on your ...
This product is really good. It really does help you work on your breathing! I've noticed after about two weeks using it, that when I take it off, my breathing is a lot more steady and comes easier. I think because when you where the mask you have to make deep breaths while doing cardio instead of doing short choppy breaths when you get tired because literally, you can't. If you want to breath in the mask, you have to do steady deep in/outs. I consider that a GREAT training device. When you take it off, you keep that same steady deep breath pattern versus doing choppy short breaths. I noticed that even when I got tired while running without the mask, I was able to tell myself "deep breaths" and I picked back up a rhythm, before the mask, that was never a thing. My complaint, which is a big one, hence the 4 stars versus 5, is the fact that I am a female weighing 165. I bought a medium, because I'm 15 pounds over the small limit, and I find that the mask is pretty big on my face. It starts to slide pretty bad when I start getting sweaty. I don't think it slides from me running, jumping, etc. Mostly just the sweat. It takes me a while to finally get into a comfortable position on my face and get a good seal at the beginning of my workout, then after I'm sweaty right around the seal it starts to slide. This is annoying and I would like there to be a better explanation for females on the sizing chart. A second thing, is that there is a lot of moisture buildup for me in this thing! To where in my workouts, if I look down sweat/saliva slides out the mask! So gross! All in all, I've already recommended this to A LOT of my coworkers because it does get the job done by helping you learn how to breath right when it comes to cardio. So, if you need help with your running because of bad breathing, this will help you improve.

I would recommend getting used to the lowest elevation (3
I'm not really sure how to review these because I'm not an athlete in the NFL or a marathon runner looking to increase their time, I'm reviewing this based off of me being an avid "athlete" training 4-5 times a week in the gym. I would recommend getting used to the lowest elevation (3,000 feet) at first, because I believe mine came from the package at 9,000 feet elevation. It's a very cool concept looking at the product, and it is very weird to get used to. You're forced to breathe full breaths which works your diaphragm in a good way. I like to wear it even when I'm idly on the computer or regularly doing homework. I like the product, but there's mainly things that could be improved. I ordered a medium and I feel like the sleeve is too small. That being said, it was a good idea to have different sizes, but everyone is going to have a different facial structure. I have a large, wide nose and I feel like the medium that I got presses down on my nose a lot, which can be fixed by me adjusting a the mask a lot. It's very annoying having the sleeve pulling down on my ear as well because it is rather small for my face. I have to do a lot of adjusting to make it "the perfect fit," if that makes sense. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this product mainly because of how annoying it can get. I do feel like I breathe better though, with more deep breaths and I'm more conscious about my breathing. If you're a training for something, I would definitely recommend this because I feel like I breathe better through this mask.

Next-Level Grind – You’ll Hate It (At First), Then You’ll Love It
Performance & Breath Control: This elevation training mask doesn’t play. The first few sessions humbled me — it felt like breathing through a straw while doing burpees. But once I adjusted and stuck with it, I noticed a huge difference in lung endurance, mental grit, and focus. You don’t just build stamina — you build discipline. Fit & Comfort: Snug, secure fit with adjustable straps that don’t dig into your skin. It holds up through high-intensity workouts without slipping, and the material is breathable enough that you’re not drenched in sweat under the mask. Changing resistance levels is simple, and the valves stay in place without rattling or leaking. Build Quality: It’s built tough. I’ve used it indoors, outdoors, and in hot conditions — no tearing, no weak seams, no issues. You can feel that it’s engineered for serious training, not just aesthetics. Results & Impact: After a few weeks of consistent use, my cardio sessions got longer, my recovery got faster, and my focus during intense lifts improved. It also mentally sharpens you — when you train with limited airflow, everything else feels easier. It teaches you how to control your breathing under pressure, and that translates into real-world gains. Final Word: This mask isn’t for people looking to feel good during a workout — it’s for those who want to grow through the discomfort. If you’re chasing that next level of fitness and mental edge, this belongs in your gym bag.

I hate to love it
I was a little bit skeptical of how much this mask would help me out but I needed to get my aerobic endurance built back up in a hurry for a Marine PFT test (3 mile run.) I hadn't been running and maintaining my physical training like I should and had my work cut out for me. First few uses: Pain. If you want to get an idea of what it's like to breath with this on, go to your bedroom and plow face first into your pillow. Now that you've done that, tape it to your face and go run. You really can adjust this mask to be that difficult to breath through. Seriously, this thing sucked getting used to and took a little bit to find out how to fit in on my face just right so that it doesn't move around. After normal use: After using this for a little while, finding the right fit, and putting the right airflow level on it for your needs I found this mask to be pleasantly unbearable. What I mean by that is it really forces you to push yourself. The important thing to remember about this is that it doesn't remove any oxygen from the air, it simply makes your body work harder to breath. You will definitely struggle to breath and I found myself having to walk much more than I was comfortable with. I felt like I was performing poorly. I did however commit myself to sticking to it and had to use serious will power not to pull the mask from my face while walking. Results: Saying that I was not in the running shape I should have been when starting use would be a nice way of putting it however after three weeks use I posted my fastest 3-mile run time that I can really remember (21:30). The year prior was 26:30. Simply put, the elevation mask was effective and it strengthened my breathing muscles considerably. Since I had gotten used to running with it on for a few weeks, running without it was crazy easy in comparison. I won't call it any kind of miracle product though. There was plenty of misery involved and it's very unnatural to wear a mask that's strangling your airflow while running. If you're enough of a masochist then this product is worth every dollar.
