iPower 600W HPS MH Grow Light System Kits, 19-inch Wing Reflector Hood and Digital Dimmable Horticulture Electronic Ballast, Bulbs and Timer Included

I bought this item based on the reviews here to grow leafy vegetables indoors during the winter. I have no previous experience with indoor growing or HID lights at all. The item arrived precariously packaged though. I had bought some soil at the same time and these items were bundled together in the same box from Amazon. When I opened the box the huge bag of soil was on top of the box with the lights! There was a little crushing, and I expected the bulbs to be shattered but thankfully everything was in working order. I knew from searching around online that they put out a lot of heat, and this item is no exception to that rule. The el-cheapo amazon tent I bought had its temperatures raised around 10f after I fired this badboy up. The heat was easily mitigated with a inline fan and some simple ducting. The only real problem I encountered when moving air out of the tent was the incredibly bad smell of my cherry tomato plants. Guys who grow medicinal herbs recommend using a carbon filter, so I guess I will begin research on that soon! Here are a few things I thought were relevant: -The ballast is quite small and makes a light humming sound from cooling fans. It stays cool to the touch. Dimming the bulb is achieved via a silver knob that shows the power percent level. The ability to dim the bulbs is rather handy in controlling temperatures. -The wing reflector feels incredibly flimsy. The socket assembly to screw the bulb into feels just as flimsy. -The eyes to hang the reflector by are actually just metal tabs that need to be folded up in order to use. This is just sheet metal that could easily break if flexed too many times. I would suggest just bending them out once and leaving them alone. -The power cables are quite long and seem to be made very well. -The bulbs seem generally good. I have very little experience in this area, but they light up and are blindingly bright. -The included rope ratchets are just the generic type of ratchet found here on Amazon. I have ordered 2 different brands and received the exact same item both times. Works like a champ. I think for the price this is a very good deal. It's just not logical to complain about a item feeling cheap when it was the cheapest thing available! I believe generally you get what you pay for, but in this items regard I believe you get more than that. It becomes a incredible deal with prime shipping added in. If I decide that 400 watts isn't enough I would not hesitate to buy another iPower bundle.

let me start out by saying that I was not originally planning on buying one of these lighting systems, due to the high cost for the ballast, bulbs, and reflectors on the market. I was browsing lighting set-ups on amazon and saw this package from iPower. The great thing about this deal is that you get a interchangeable ballast, which is capable of supporting both a metal halide and high pressure sodium bulbs (great for both vegetative and flowering growth - both ends of the spectrum), with a convenient dimming feature to save on electricity costs. my product works fantastic, the ballast is whisper quiet and runs cool. The high intensity discharge bulbs are very bright and put out a lot of lumens for healthy plants. I paid for this entire system what some people will pay for just a REFLECTOR from another company, which is made of the same durability as iPower reflector. i had a question about where the hanging hooks are located on the reflector (which by the can just be bent to a 90 degree angle with your finger or a screw driver, then you attach the rope ratchets which are also included in the package) when I first received my package which was quickly delivered, and a customer service person immediately answered my call (no automated service) and helped me to quickly solve my question. I had the entire system up and running in less than 10 minutes. so if you are on the fence about whether to purchase this system or anything sold by iPower, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed by the quality of the product and the customer service. I will be purchasing all of my supplies from iPower

The Ballast works great to my standard, it stays fairly cool...doesn't get hot one bit. The lights are magnificent, I really enjoy their results. The reflective shield could have been attached to the part where the light bulb screws in but that's minor, it just took a few minutes to really get it as close as possible to line up. I used only what the product came with and I made it work. The Metal Hallide is super bright, don't look straight into it or you'll end up blind for sure. The cords are long enough to fit in a closet and then some, that's a plus. 4 stars only because it doesn't come with a timer and the fact that the reflective shield is one piece by itself and you have to buy separate special V-Hooks to connect it, if you can't figure out a way with the rope attachment. If you're looking for a good price on a Switchable MH/HPS grow light, this is definitely one of the better values! Tip: Make sure to only unplug from the wall or other outlet you put the last connection in, or you might blow your bulb. I haven't even tried to use 75% or 50% wattage from the ballast just because I like the 100% :D Happy Growing!!

I found a couple pieces of broken glass on the inside of one of my bulbs. After doing some research found out that it should work fine and sure enough it did. Overall I would say that this is a great product for the price. I would however advise you to get the cool tube package as this light does produce a lot of heat. My plants love me right now for getting this package as they have never looked better. If you are looking for an affordable high quality system you can't go wrong with this buy.
