Great food. I stopped using it to switch to senior food for my pup.

This food was excellent, when it was priced better, it is over priced at 90 bucks online now so I won't buy it again, only issue I had was the box it was shipped in was big enough to hold about 8 bags, and it moved around so much inside even though it had packing material as well that it had a whole in the bag when I received it, I assumed it was done in shipping although I didn't see any holes in the box, and no I didn't use a knife when I opened it so it wasn't my fault. I would have returned it but I needed the food and took the risk because the hole looked like it just happened and the food seemed ok after closer examination.

I have a dog that has allergies to about everything. This food, which is well rated by Dog Food Advisor, is grain free and poultry free. I was worried that because it was pork, beef and lamb, she would start to gain even more weight (she is a lab/rottweiler mix that has never met a non-edible in her life.) Instead, she has actually trimmed down nicely and is using less allergy medicine with the subtraction of poultry (she was already on grain free.) She eats this right up and has been very healthy on it. Who could ask for more other than a good price? Well, this is about $20 less than the other foods I was feeding her for about 3 lbs more! I was a little hesitant because of the recall Merrick had back about 4 years ago. But I decided since it was poultry free (very difficult to find...most foods have chicken in them) well reviewed by an organization I trust, had all the vitamins necessary, 26% protein and 348 calories a cup, it was worth the try. And it is a love match for both me and my dog. So Jazzie and I both recommend this particular Whole Earth Farms recipe highly!

UPDATE: So after doing a bit of research, I called the company based on their claim that the dog food was made in the USA. After calling them while that isn't exactly 100% true, it is mostly true. I found out the Duck formula comes from France, Well the duck anyway. The Lamb and Venison come from New Zealand. The vitamins and minerals come from Germany, Canada or Japan. and the Salmon comes from Canada as well. I also learned a little more about the Pork meal. What they do is they take the moisture out of the Pork so they dehydrate it or freeze dry it. I don't think the lady I talked to really knew exactly so she had a hard time explaining it to me. Anyway, they somehow take the moisture out of the pork and then reconstitute it without the moisture, leaving higher amounts of protein and making it easier for your pup to digest. I have heard this go both ways. I have also heard feeding dogs Pork is not very good for them, however as of yet I have not been able to find anyone that has been able to tell me why. So I am going with it is fine for now until I can find more solid evidence that is not good for the dog. The company is based out of Texas and the person I spoke to did in fact speak English! Baldwin (obviously our crazy part of the family/fun loving dog) seems to love it. I myself have never have never tried it so I am not sure ;-). Long as the dog enjoys it and eats it I am happy! Baldwin is a very picky one and we tried quite a few other brands and he would turn his nose up to it. It has good ingredients and is grain free, which is great. High grain diets can lead to seizures in some dogs. The first ingredient is Pork Meal which is a Meat Concentrate and is higher in Protein than regular pork. I do wish it came in a bigger bag than 25 lbs, We tend to go through this about every month or a little under a month. We store ours in an 8 gallons garbage can we got from the local grocery store. That holds it quite nicely. the kibble size is smaller than a dime, which is great because Baldwin doesn't like anything bigger than that. This is the first dog food I have found that he will eat, I like the ingredients and is also grain free. Overall I am pretty satisfied with this dog food.

The kibble nuggets were cute little heart shapes! My puppy loved the food and the ingredients list and price both seemed decent. She got very itchy on this food however so she’s apparently allergicto something in it. So I won’t buy this again. She’s doing better on Canine Caviar. I’m sad though - we both liked this one.
