EDIT #2 as of 2/1/26 After YEARS of use - my girl is still doing incredibly well on two VetriScience bladder supplements (plus her incontinence meds). In case yall don’t want to read my whole review - her prescriptions were helping but not enough and after much trial and error - I found the winning combo by adding two VetriScience bladder supplements. Another change from when I originally wrote this review - my girl no longer uses DES scrip because it just didn’t work enough for the money it costs. She was changed over to Incurin twice weekly (along with Proin and these supplements) and she hasn’t had any leakage or accidents in a long long time. She is 13.5 years old, 55lbs, and has had early spay incontinence issues since she was a puppy. It absolutely amazes me that a few meds and a few supplements have basically eradicated her lifelong problem. I actually have a few backups of this supplement as well as VetriScience Bladder Strength because I don’t want her running out during those odd times the products aren’t available anywhere. I follow the exact recommended dosage - no need to go over by a half, anymore. I keep her hydrated during the day (not dangerous levels - I just make sure she has 3oz every hour ish by crumbling a treat in that amount of water). I soak her kibble in hot water half hour before eating - helps digestion and adds hydration. Thoroughly hydrated - I cut off water 2 hours before bed. I take her to pee the very last thing before bed. No accidents or issues. I learned in the past - if she’s dehydrated, her bladder gets irritated and she’d dribble. So I approach this from every angle. These supplements have been game changers!!!! I’m not affiliated with VetriScience or the seller. EDIT #1: It’s just been reaffirmed how much these VetriScience products help! Everywhere had sold out of VetriScience Bladder Strength so my girl hadn’t been taking it for about 4 days. Well - there’s been an increase in the leaking into her diapers at night. She still has her meds and the other supplement - so it’s not like a full on pee - but I’d say there’s about an ounce in there each morning (much better than fully emptying her bladder but very different from the one or two drops/no drops she was having with BOTH supplements + meds). You’re here reading reviews because your dog is having incontinence issues - BUY THIS! Okay. My 10.5 year old female dog has dealt with spay incontinence since she was a puppy. It was my fault - I trusted the local animal foundation who urged me to get her spayed when I had her litter mate brother neutered - they were very young. Anyways, my girl’s spay incontinence wasn’t intense - it had been very well controlled with Proin her entire life - until this year. It seemed as if the Proin completely stopped working. She was pretty much dripping a little bit all the time, was completely evacuating her bladder overnight about 2 times weekly and her whole personality changed. She went from a confident fun loving dog to an anxious, tentative, shy dog that would hide behind the couch or under the table etc. She was totally ashamed - as any house broken animal would be when they were constantly having accidents. She had a few thorough exams by her vet - NOTHING was wrong with her health - it was just age exacerbating a lifelong problem. She was taken off Proin for 2 weeks to break her tolerance to it and when reintroduced, that reduced the leaking but didn’t make enough of a dent. Her vet added DES (hormonal treatment) to increase bladder control and it did but only for about two days - which wasn’t terribly helpful because she can only have it once a week. $1000 injections to her bladder weren’t possible so I started looking at supplements. A very VERY popular supplement failed her - it actually made the leaking and full on accidents much worse. I kept reading reviews that said to stick with it and I did and I regret that because it made my dog more miserable. I moved on to another supplement - it changed nothing. Another supplement - nothing. Another supplement - yeah again, nothing. I finally found a supplement made by VetriScience (Bladder Strength) and it did help, some. As I went to reorder it, this was recommended to me by Amazon - VetriScience Vetri Bladder - since I liked their other product, I added this one, too. While not a total solution, it has made a world of difference!!!! My dog wears washable cloth dog diapers to bed which I line with women’s sanitary pads (it’s easier to change the pads than to wash the diaper AND the blankets if she has an accident). So with the white pads - I can see if there’s a leak - it’s pee - there is yellowing. Ever since VetriScience Vetri Bladder - IF my dog even leaks at night, it’s literally just a few drops on the pads. Enough that I need to change the pad because I won’t have her sleeping with even one drop of pee - but it’s nothing like what had been happening prior to using this supplement! It’s been months now and it still really works well. I DO increase the two VetriScience supplements by a half supplement twice daily; slightly more than what her weight calls for, towards the end of the week as her DES med becomes useless and she’s nearing needing her next dose. That adds up to one extra supplement daily, for a few days each week. Once she gets her DES dose again, we go back to one chew with breakfast and one chew with dinner until end of week when it’s worn off again. I don’t know if this matters but I give her the supplements and her Proin about 1/2 hour before she eats - to make sure food doesn’t interfere with absorption and she’s always covered (DES must be taken with food). Trust me - having spent thousands on this issue (vet visits, several brands of diapers till I found the right one, all the failed supplements, the pads and laundry detergent and bleach) - I’m just incredibly thankful to have found this! Plus - our Vet loves that these don’t have cranberry in them because she’s seen cranberry cause too many problems in dogs with incontinence issues. I learned that a fee years ago. Gave my girl a doggy cranberry supplement just to keep her bladder healthy and it made her leaky. The leakage stopped when that supplement was thrown away. So VetriScience Bladder strength + VetriScience Vetri Bladder + her meds = my girl has regained her confidence and is happy again. I included all the details in case this might be the right path for someone else to take. I don’t have to wash the dog blanket every single day (the dogs sleep on top of my bed) - just the normal twice weekly washing cuz dogs smell lol. I have a layer of x-large puppy training pads beneath the dog blanket on their side of the bed (my side is blocked off with boxes to keep them off when I’m not in there) because I’m always ready for an accident and don’t want my mattress ruined. Well - I used to have to change those pads everyday, too. Now with her diapers catching just those few drops when they happen - and NO full evacuating of her bladder - I only have to change those pads out every few weeks because of my dust allergy - not because of pee. I told you my dog is happier - I am too! It’s really hard to keep up with a leaky dog - I’m so glad I found products that really work. I LOVE VetriScience! Also, the company itself - is absolutely amazing. I called with a question and they got back to me - Leah is a hugely helpful asset, there. They really believe in what they do and I have benefitted from their products! So I am sure this may not fit for all dogs, because each case is different, but it worked great for my dog. I have already reordered more. It has been a lifesaver for us. Here is our situation so hopefully this helps others in a similar situation: My dog is a 1.5 yr old Border Collie/Black Lab mix. She was fully house trained very young and really never ever had accidents in the house. She was spayed at about 4 months. She did have 'nervous' excited pee-pee once and a while, for example when new guests came to the house, but that was very predictable, a small amount and happened only once in a great while. Then suddenly one evening recently we found her laying in a puddle - where she always sleeps/relaxes in a corner of the kitchen on the cool floor. She was drenched and it was a huge puddle, not a few drops - really out of nowhere. From then on it was really bad - happening maybe 4 times a day. She had no idea what was happening and was clearly upset by it. It would always happen when she was laying down relaxing or sleeping - mostly in the evenings. I took her to the vet and they gave her antibiotics to clear up any UTI and see if that would fix the issue. She did the full course and no change. Next visit, the vet said that some adult spayed females develop spay incontinence as adult dogs - happening at age 1 or later and they lose control of their bladder because the spaying removes the estrogen source and the dog essentially has no hormones left that help with bladder control. He said there were 2 presciption choices - hormone replacement or Proin. Both choices come with risks so I wanted to check out other options first. Now it gets really interesting...I found this Bladder Strength product and read the good reviews and ordered some. While waiting for it to arrive, I was reading online and found an article where someone cured their dog's bladder problems with soy-based dog food. Then I remembered that the main ingredient in Bladder Strength is a soy extract. And ...women use soy supplements to help with post-menopause and post-hysterectomy symptoms...This all makes total sense with what my vet was telling me about the cause of her incontinence being from spaying! SOY was the key...Soy is a plant estrogen and it can work as a replacement for the missing estrogen in the body. So...armed with all this new knowledge I decide to go look at the ingredients in her current dog food - no soy products. Hmmm. And lo and behold I think back and realize about 4 weeks earlier I had SWITCHED HER FOOD. I looked up her old food ingredients online and voila - loaded with soy. So I inadvertently caused her sudden bladder problems by switching her from her mainstay to a new 'healthier' no filler food!! The soy in the food she had been eating her entire life up to then was soy filled - and was apparently acting as an estrogen replacement for her. I immediately quit giving her the new 'healthy' soy-free food and switched back to the old soy food. Within a few days, her puddles were greatly reduced - not gone - but a big improvement. After about a week back on the old dog food, the Bladder Strength arrived. Since she was not 'cured' completely and because she had always been a 'nervous' pee-pee dog, I decided to start her on the Bladder Strength as well. She is 60 lbs - so 2 pills per day - one on the AM and one in the PM. Within about a week, SHE WAS COMPLETELY CURED!! No puddles, no drips, back to her old happy self!!! And...the nervous pee-pee is also gone! It has been over a month now with no puddles! I think the soy is key, but also the other ingredients in Bladder Strength work together to really help get everything back in working order. She eats them right up like a treat - no problem! So, check your dog food ingredients and see if that might be part of the problem - a soy based food could help...and of course GET SOME BLADDER STRENGTH - it is such a great product.

Our dog is a young, female Brittany (spaniel). We had her spayed young, about 8mo. per the recommendation of our vet. Unfortunately - about a month after spaying, we started to notice wet spots on her bed. At first, they weren't big - maybe a quarter or so in size. I thought she might be drooling - but she's not a drooler, and they weren't exactly in the right place to line up with drool. So, more google investigation revealed that spaniels in particular have a problem with spay incontinence. The frequency over the next couple months was erratic, sometimes it would be after a particularly exciting day or trip to the dog park - other times it would happen for no apparent reason. It didn't happen every day, but it happened enough to be annoying. One thing was for sure - the amount was increasing from quarter size to her whole backside being damp and her bed soaking through. I'm a very tidy person; I couldn't imagine giving up my pup - so I decided something had to be done. This product - along with a few home-'fixes' has worked wonderfully for us. My decision to go with this product was based largely on the positive reviews, and my own research of other products. When I first got it, I started with the dosage recommended. My dog is 32 lbs, just over the weight limit recommended for one pill a day. The first few weeks we had this product, we gave her a pill every night with dinner religiously. No leaks. I then decided to scale back how much I was giving her - just to see what her particular dosage was. I went probably a month or more without giving her a single pill , and she did well. Then, all of a sudden, she started having accidents at night and during the day again - and they were the biggest of all. So back on the pills we have gone. We are now giving her 1/2 pill with breakfast and 1/2 with dinner and no accidents. As long as we are regularly giving her these supplements, we have not had a single accident. A few other things I'd like to note - and might be helpful to anyone trying to figure out what works and is the best for their dog. [My disclaimer] I haven't seen my vet about this problem yet - I was afraid that she would want to give me a prescription drug, and the drugs that are commonly prescribe have some bad side effects I didn't want to have to deal with. I wanted to try a more natural approach than pharmaceutical - and this has done just that. I did try just corn silk tablets. They say that is supposed to help with spay incontinence in some research I did. If you're tossed up between that and this supplement - (maybe because of cost considerations) I'd recommend this product. Partly because the corn silk did nothing for my dog - and now I have a bottle of it sitting around with no use for it. And as long as the price stays <20 then it's fairly competitive for other options on the market. It does smell! When you open the bottle you get this whiff of bad smell. I guess the dogs like it - because mine eats hers right like a treat. I will add the caveat that we only feed our dog dry dog food and dog treats (no human food) so she isn't a very discriminating eater either. Finally - if you're looking for a way to keep the doggy bed clean without having to shove it in the laundry after every accident - here's what worked for us while we were figuring what worked for our dog. [I still have this set up as a just-in-case method cause I hate washing the dog bed.] I took some very thick fabric - think the stuff you would make a canvas tote out of - and created an envelope bed cover for her doggy bed. On the top piece of the cover, I bought a personal waterproof mattress pad that was large enough to fit the top of the dog bed, and sandwiched it between two pieces of the thick fabric so that my dog didn't hear or feel the waterproof pad (she's not a fan of just sticking that on her bed under a towel). So if you can imagine the three pieces of an envelope cover the top piece (that you see) is fabric, pad, fabric, and the two bottom pieces are thick fabric. I put this cover on her bed, so when she leaks, the leak is kept from getting into the plush part of the bed (which takes forever to dry when you wash it) by the personal waterproof pad. When leaks do happen, all I have to do is take the bed cover off, toss the cover in the wash, and dry it (on low so you don't melt the waterproof pad) and put it back on the bed. Way easier than washing the whole bed! (Update) 2015-07 We have re ordered and the product is still working. We have adjusted to a half pill in the evening now with dinner which works. I've experimented with dosage and that seems to be about right for us. I can occasionally forget to give her a pill, and usually we have no accidents unless it was a particularly busy day. She still likes the taste. I did take it with me the next time I saw my vet, and my vet was surprised that it was working for me, but said that there were no dangerous ingredients and to keep giving it to her if it was doing the trick for us. I'm so glad the solution was so simple!

This is a great product for my dog. She had bladder leakage for a few months. I purchased diapers and pads which were fine but she still needed her bottom cleaned after she soiled them. I went to my vet and spent $300 in testing to get some pills for leaky bladder for her. When I got the script it was $50 a month! Hardly sustainable when I have 2 large both on glucosamine and pain meds for their joints. I started looking for an alternative. I found this product. I wish I had tried it before spending $350 at the vet. These work great within a couple of days the leaking had stopped at a fraction of the price. She is 78 lbs I started with 2, after a couple of weeks she leaked a bit again. I upped it to 2 1/2 haven’t had a problem in months. It’s definitely worth a try for dog bladder leakage.

This worked great on my spayed Doberman. She stopped piddling in her bed within a week. I was so happy with the win. Then, the bad. Her skin started flaking and she stank like yeast, horribly. I took her to the vet, and she was prescribed a medicated wash and an antibiotic. Still her skin was awful. She was already on a no chicken diet, fish oils supplement etc. So, I stopped giving her this med. Her skin cleared up within a few days. Unfortunately, she’s peeing on herself.l again. Sigh. Pick your battles I guess.

Wonderful product so far. It's been 5 days free of accidents. My pit mix is almost 3 years old. Started having accidents last year after I adopted her and she was also spayed at that time. Accidents only when she was laying down and relaxed. She's house broken so I knew there was something wrong. Took her to the vet and they did an urinalysis and ultrasound of her bladder. Clear of infection and crystals. Vet told me it's common for female spayed young dogs to have this problem because of the hormone drop. Recommended hormone replacement therapy but I refused due to potential cancer risks. The accidents were inconsistant and very tiny amounts. Two weeks after the vet visit, I come home and thank goodness, witnessed her urinate blood. Rushed her to the emergency clinic and yes, she had s terrible bladder infection. The vet said this is probably why she was having accidents. The tests don't always show positive if the infection isn't bad enough. Round of antibiotics and she's fine. No more accidents. Fast forward 7 months, accidents again. While she's relaxed or sleeping. I noticed her suddenly wake and lick herself and her behind would be wet. Poor thing. I didn't want to go through the whole, test negative wait for major infection then antibiotics route so I tried a cranberry supplement for dogs. Used it for a month with no improvement. Thought maybe it's not an infection this time? Came across this product and all the positive reviews and advise. Someone said she gave her dog soy milk so I did that while waiting for this to arrive. 3 days of soy milk and cranberry supplement with no change. This product came and I discontinued the cranberry supplement. It's been 5 days and no accidents. Fingers are crossed. I'm going to have her finish the rest of the soy milk and see if anything changes. My dog is 60lbs so she gets 1 pill twice a day. I don't understand why vets don't suggest these natural solutions instead of cancer producing drugs. I guess like human MDs, anything not taught in school doesn't work. Update: its been about 2 months of suggested dosage and my dog is having accidents again. So disappointed. Will try increasing dosage to see if the accidents will stop. Don't understand why the effectiveness is wearing off. Update: using this product religiously for a year and the incontinence is steadily increasing. Urine tests negative for bacteria and only happens when she’s sleeping or very relaxed. Really disappointed.

We have 2 Doberman pinchers, one is a spayed 4yr old and the other is an intact 2 year old. The spayed 4 year old just developed incontinence. 2 weeks ago she peed on our couch twice (luckily it’s leather and Cleans easily) and once on our bed (which luckily had a mattress protector). Both times after getting up. The vet checked her out she had no infection and the vet diagnosed incontinence. She last has an accident last week on Feb 28 Saturday and this supplement arrived later that same Saturday. Since starting this supplement (3 per day and she weighs 93lbs) she has had no accidents. Since it’s Sunday March 8 today, it’s been slightly over a week with no accidents. So far this seems to be working and I’m glad we addressed the issue quickly. Also, I don’t ever plan on spaying any of my dogs again unless I have to. For this Doberman she had an emergency spay due to an infected uterus - so we had to do it. I plan to keep her on this for life and only using medication if this stops working.

My 12 yr old Aussie started to have age-related incontinence issues and wasn't feeling well for several months as she didn't want to play with the other dog and was losing her appetite. She's had several bladder infections and was constantly licking herself which we didn't realize was due to urine leaks which irritated her skin. We treated the bladder infection with antibiotics again but also started her on VetriScience Bladder Strength, giving a double dose split between AM and PM. It started to work after about a week, and she's only had one accident during sleep and a few daytime leaks but most importantly, she's rarely licks herself anymore. Although she has access to the yard via a dog door, we take her out to potty every 4-5 hrs during the day and the last thing before bedtime to avoid her going to sleep with a full bladder. Because she wasn't feeling well and was upset after the urine leaks, we give her VetriScience Composure chewable supplements, which definitely help as she back to her old self, wanting to play and showing interest in her food. It's my understanding that incontinence in younger spayed females dogs can be caused by the spay surgery and in older spayed dogs it's usually from weak urethra muscles after years of little or no estrogen. The Bladder Support has bio-identical hormones and works similar to hormone replacement therapy the same as in humans, and while it may not be as effective as the RX treatment for canine incontinence, there are no side effects or health risks. It may not be 100% effective but most likely there's nothing that is 100% effective so we're happy that we've seen some improvement, and are hoping for some continued improvement over the next month or so. I've read several reviews indicating that the supplement does not work. I think people need to determine the cause of the incontinence and if it is hormone related, keep in mind that the condition didn't occur overnight so the treatment will likely need time to work. Some people may try to restrict access to drinking water to avoid accidents but this can be harmful, especially to older dogs who are susceptible to dehydration and kidney disease. There are some great products out there to help cope - doggie diapers, pee pads, waterproof blankets for beds and furniture. We were fortunate in that our two golden retrievers lived to the ripe old ages of 16 and 17 without health issues, so if incontinence is the most we have to deal with, we'll gladly make do.
