This book series is EXCELLENT, but this book leaves something to be desired.
These Exercise Anatomy books, published by Firefly, are wonderful books: great descriptions, photos, and the anatomy info is a great complement for those of us who like to know about that sort of thing. However, I'd give the info in this book only about two or three stars because it's so basic and the exercises are so easy. I'm 60 years old and apparently in fabulous condition if this book is anything to go by--ha ha! I had hoped the book would help me develop a challenging-but-doable age-and-body-type-appropriate resistance training program. If you're just getting started with fitness, this might be a good place to start. I saw that one reviewer said the exercises were too advanced for them; everybody has a different starting level. If you're already well-versed in basic fitness, try the Encyclopedia of Exercise Anatomy in this series. It's full of great info!

A Great Guide for Exercising Safely
The illustrations are both easy to follow and instructional. I went to physical therapy to recover from an injury and improve my flexibility and strength. My therapist taught me many of the exercises and I took careful notes. However, insurance only pays for a limited number of sessions. This easy to read guide has been a great help in continuing my recovery.

Helpful
Helps to understand how things work when we move. I like that it's so detailed & for the over 50, more doable.

Very thorough in explaining the exercises. Book is full of pictures for each exercise. You need to invest a little money for a few pieces of equipment, but it is not bad. Most of all the exercises are geared for us over 50. Im glad i bought this book!

I use my copy of this book regularly to train, and recommend it. The recipient of the copy bought htis time, is "getting to it'. I reccommend caution to those getting back into a trainging program for the Standing Quadricepts Stretch. Until the muscles are fully firm, it would be safer to do on the floor, as is shown in a subsequent bookin this series.

This book is very clearly written with suitable exercises for this age level. It is my #1 go-to book for keeping fit. Because things are explained so well and varying intensity levels are given for each exercise I never sustained workout injuries. Excellent book!!

Clear illustrations and instructions for proper form. There is more to staying fit than what is covered, but the title does refer to exercise only. Book is excellent value.
