Lots of potential, but still finicky. update: still not working well.
There's a lot of potential here and as an early adopter one has to accept some glitches. However, this is not their first product and some of these should have been worked through.1 - The "tap to bypass" feature is great in theory. In practice it is very finicky. Getting it to bypass usually takes several taps. I've read up on a bit on technique and I've gotten better, but it doesn't work consistently enough.2 - They cut out as you walk and move around if the phone isn't direct enough to your ears. This is partially an issue with bluetooth. Or so that's how I understand it. Bluetooth does not travel through flesh (I want to say it's the water in us?) well. These blip a bit if you're walking with your phone in your pocket.3 - They don't always pair right. Sometimes I need to put them back in the box and take them out to get it to work right. I know some people that have had to reset the pairing weekly.4 - The app is slow to pair. When you open it it can take 5-10+ seconds to pair with the ear buds. One can work with this, but it's a pain.Overall, wireless headphones and wireless earbuds specifically here, are awesome. For biking or walking or moving around they're great. I'm sure there cheaper options that take care of that part. The extra tech of these still needs work. Oh, and they do fit great. One of the main reasons I chose these over AirPods is that they don't fit my ears. These fit great.update:These are still finicky and they recently did an upgrade. Now the case does not stay connected so in the middle of listening they cutout. I can go back in and reconnect them, but it happens again. And the bypass feature stopped working. It pauses what's playing, but doesn't turn on the microphone on the outside.Seems to require weekly hard reset. Not worth the $300.Great concept. Poor execution.

Fantastic Sound, Cutting Edge Noise Cancellation Tech
I am always on the lookout for new and interesting tech products that improve my life and make my day-to-day experience more convenient. As an owner of a few different wireless headphones, including the Apple AirPods, I became interested in the Here One earbuds after reading a few articles about what this amazing product can do. Overall, they are incredible and definitely offer a much different experience versus the AirPods.Positives:Sound quality is extremely high fidelity, exceeding my expectations for wireless earbuds. They sound much better than the Apple’s Airpods with more powerful bass and clear sound.Noise cancellation capabilities are the most advanced I have ever seen. While all noise cancelling headphones I’ve previously used have offered two settings (noise cancelling on, or off), these buds let you fully customize the level of cancellation you want. This allows you to still enjoy the benefits of noise cancellation without necessarily tuning out everything (although you can do that if you want to!), which is a great option for when you still want to maintain awareness of external sounds.I have primarily used these while riding the subway system in San Francisco and so I’ve made generous usage of the “MUNI” noise filter. These noise filters are fascinating, as they are tailored towards various environments - the MUNI/Subway filter, for example, filters out the background noises, screeches, etc., that you typically hear on a subway. There are other filters for scenarios like bus, plane, city, and so on. You can even target the noise cancelling in a certain directions, enabling you to hear only noises in front of you, or behind you. This is an extremely cool application of noise cancellation tech and I’m looking forward to experimenting further with these various filters. Here One includes a range of earbud attachments to help you find the best fit for your ears. A few of these attachments are made from a squishy material that is essentially moldable, which helps you achieve a very precise fit to the inside of your ear. As someone who always struggles with finding a decent fit for earbuds, this was a total revelation! The buds fit perfectly and I don’t know why other earbud manufacturers aren’t using this material!Opportunities:While the Here One app is a great way to control the overall experience, in some ways it feels too complex and geared primarily towards an “expert user.” For instance, noise cancellation is handled via a scale that goes from -22 to +6, which doesn’t feel intuitive. There is also a feature called Live Mix which allows you to fully customize the level and type of noises that the technology mutes. This feature is placed prominently within the app’s main screen, and while I’m sure that more advanced users would greatly appreciate these options, I found them overwhelming. Generally, I think the app would benefit from some streamlining and simplification, with an eye towards user education, to make it easier to know which settings are best for which situations.I was surprised that there is currently no option to add Here One as an iPhone widget for quicker access to settings. Would be great to see this in a future software update! (...hint, hint…)I had some initial frustrations while pairing the buds with my phone, eventually realizing that the buds simply didn’t have enough charge out of the box to proceed with setup. While I should have expected this, upon opening the case for the first time, the battery indicator lights all fully lit up, giving me the impression of a full charge. I later learned that this indicator is for the charging case, not the buds themselves. While it is completely understandable that the buds would need to be charged before first use, initial setup did not highlight this as a necessary step, causing a slightly rough onboarding process for me. Once I allowed the buds to fully charge, everything proceeded smoothly.

Best Sounding True Wireless earbuds plagued by bad battery.
Best Sounding True Wireless earbuds plagued by bad battery. The company that made these went out of business and no longer sell or support them. I hope/wish they use their tech in a reliable company's product such as Bose. The sound quality is a 5+ stars unfortunately the charging/battery life is a 1 star. If you can get them for around $100 try them out if you only listen to music via earphones for 30mins to an hour at a time. Also be prepared to be frustrated when the indicator on the charger says 100% green light and only to take them out of the case with minimum/no charge. (Battery lead connection issue?). Also there is a learning curve when you first connect them. You must charge the buds for at least 3 hours or 100% green indicator before connecting. You might also have to delete the Hear One app and re download it several times when first connecting. Once you get it connected you shouldn't have a problem again. If you are tech savvy and willing to deal with the battery/charging issue and short play life it might be worth a try for the great sound and noise cancellation quality. These were originally $300 and sound better than the B&O E8. And for whatever reason fit my ear canal perfectly out of the box. I am presently trying the B&O. The B&O players have exceptional battery life but I like the Hear One tech/sound better. I am using the Android App "Precise Volume" with the B&O E8, which I recommend to fine tune the volume level and bass/equalizer sound, to try to mimic the Hear One sound. I applaud Hear One for making the product, hence the higher than deserved rating for the product, but their tech will be better served if they contract with Bose or B&O etc..
