The kids love this workbook. I highly recommend you also purchase the “How to be Good at Science” book for easy reference for the lesson.

Savior
Suddenly put in charge of the science curriculum of an entire elementary school in Japan, I needed a stopgap to bridge my scramble to put a program together. This has been my savior. All the major concepts are here in an easy to read series of double sided worksheets. With this, it's been easy enough to take the Japanese science texts, closely match topics, and make assignments. As Japan is largely worksheet-based, they are comfortable with this arrangement. I still have to prepare lessons, with presentation and labs, but this has been extremely helpful (some topics even include a "science at home" section with a mini lab - wish all had!). Is it perfect? No. The claim that this is for grades 2-5 is a bit insane. I'd put the reading level pretty consistent across all topics, and it is written clearly with good pictures and activities that make them accessible to the students of all the grades I teach (grades 3 to 6). But certain topics assigned to the lowest grade in the Japanese curriculum are a bit of a stretch because of the language choice. Still, I teach at a very high level school (they do a parallel teaching model, where the kids get the major subjects in both Japanese and English - just sad that the English side has no texts and is encouraged to do something "authentically foreign" rather than a straight translation of the Japanese side). This book has really fit the situation! Even if your own doesn't match mine, this is a really excellent book. Highly recommended!
