Artie Shaw/Jack Teagarden/Cab Calloway/Duke Ellington/Boyd Raeburn

Bought this because Artie Shaw plays a couple of tunes on it that are well done and it's difficult to find any videos on him at all. Of course everything is in black & white but there is enough on this DVD to have made it worthwhile and enjoyable to watch to see the differences between the 5 groups that are on it. I know that I'm glad I bought it. Thank you.

Great jazz music. cool bands like Artie Shaw's clarenet playing tis fantastic. There will be always be debate wether He or Bennny Goodman was the best or is. Jack Teagarten is one fantastic cool cat along with his band. Cab Calloway - wow love his style. Duke Ellington incredible music- One Fantastic DVD of Great Jazz music. Love this era. In all fairness I did not even play the CD that accompanies the DVD. The DVD has about one and one half snippets on each of the bands in very subdued black and white images and the sound wasn't as good as the video. I returned this one for credit

Disappointing. Harry James was decent. Count Basie was bad. Duke Ellington was worse. I love the big band music, but this was the worse that I have ever heard. Hard to believe that such great talent couldn't put out a much better effort. Don't waste your money. It stunk.

Having both the CD of the music and the DVD of actual performances makes this a unique and great gift for WWII era fans of music.

Purchased for a friend and former Ellington Band member, during the glory days. It was met with great pleasure and unlimited nostalgia. Thanks for the great product and service!
