GOHOF Cotton Macrame Cord 3mm x 200m Natural Colored Macrame Supplies, Soft Craft Cotton Rope for Plant Hanger Wall Hanger Dreamcatcher (Beige)

This was bought to replace a number of sisal and jute cords that were passed the end of their useful life. From a historical re-enactment perspective, Sisal would not have been known until Mexico was discovered, and Jute from India the same. Cotton on the other hand was from Egypt and China, both on the ancient trading routes. This is great news, of course, because Cotton is so much softer and very versatile. I put quite a lot of strain of the first few inches off the roll and it didn’t budge. I was impressed with how it was wound on to the card core, and the quality of the core was superior to many, although probably not exceptional. I had the option to rewind it on to a high specification plastic reel, from eSun PLA+ 3KG Filament, but with only one spare. I decided to leave it on the card core for now. I currently know very little about the craft of Macrame, but I can tie some strong knots. We will see how this goes as I learn more, but it’s expected to be an extremely strong cord. I did note that the cut end of the cord had not been wrapped or whipped, so was starting to fray a little.
