Great face scrub before a shave!
I've been searching for a really good, deep-cleaning face scrub to use before I shave. I have sensitive, combination skin (dry and oily) that seems to be particular about what I use on it. A lot of exfoliating scrubs are either too harsh, too drying, or don't rinse off worth a darn. A few years ago, I spent a signifcant sum trying to find a scrub that really worked for me. I tried a lot of higher end products that were recommended, but it seems I struck out on most of them. I've used Nivea For Men deep cleaning scrub for years, and it works, but it doesn't do much to correct my skin if it's not just right. I enjoyed the Kiyoku scrub, but of the 4 times I've ordered it, the formula has been different each time, as well as the consistency (everywhere from really thick to watery thin). For the price I pay for a tube, I want some assureance that I'm getting what I want. On a whim, I tried Pacific Shaving Company Bamboo Pre-Shave Scrub after reading an article online about it. I figured if it didn't work well, at least it was cheaper than a lot of the other products I had tried. I still have Nivea to fall back on. I was very surprised when I used it the first time. No chemical smells, no additives to tingle my face. Just a neutral smelling face wash with some grit I could feel. It went on easy, seemed to scrub just right, and rinsed off just as easy. My face was left feeling renewed and ready to go. Since I generally use a scrub like this before a shave, I found that the following shave turned out great. I had left a smooth canvas for my razor to work its magic on. Most importantly, I have found that my neck area has tended to not get nearly as aggrevated when I used this scrub before a shave. Ingrown hairs have virtually disappeared, which is something I've dealt with for the 30+ years I've been shaving. While the Nivea scrub helped to lessen the occurance of ingrown hairs, I still had periods where they would come to visit. I have yet to have one since using this, though. I've always had to use a post-shave ingrown hair treatment, as well. I still use that, but this scrub really seems to prepare my skin beforehand, so that the conditions causing the ingrowns are largely absent before I shave. After my first tube, I decided I liked the product enough to buy a 3 pack. Hopefully the great results will continue.

Another Solid Natural Shaving Product from Pacific Shaving Co.
I've been an ardent customer of Pacific Shaving Co.'s (PSC) other shaving products (pre-shave oil and shaving cream) specifically because I wanted a healthier alternative (natural and organic ingredients) compared to the vast majority of shaving products out on the market. This pre-shave exfoliating wash is a welcoming consideration. Most exfoliating wash products are harsh on one's skin and NOT recommended for daily use. However, my face is prone to "ingrown" hairs that create nasty reddish bumps which often requires a needle to eject the hair outside of the skin for tweezer extraction that can lead to facial scaring. Hence, when I caught notice of this product, I just had to make the purchase especially because it does not contain certain ingredients that are noted to be harmful to one's overall general health. I've been using this product for over a month, I can say w/ certanty that this exfoliating wash may be used on a daily basis as it is not abrasive to one's skin (Does not cause excessive dryness and flaking skin). In fact, I have begun to use this wash prior to bedtime in addition to my daily morning pre-shave (used w/ a Merkur safety razor). Remember, like all PSC's products, just a little dab (less than a dime size) will do and the product's aroma is ever-so slight and rather pleasing. I have found that PSC's pre-shave exfoliating wash has decreased my ingrown hair build-up, however, I do, on occasion, get mild bumps that do not turn red, so I believe this is an overall improvement. Safe to say, I would highly recommend this product to all male users who wish for a healthier shaving product alternative and who seek the prevention of ingrown hair build-up. Oh, I forgot to mention that all PCS's products are VERY price attractive!

Great Product
I've used the Bamboo Pre-Shave Scrub for about 3 weeks now and I can honestly say there's a noticeable difference in the quality of the shave I get and reduction in irritation. Just a nice and close smooth shave! I use Pacific Shaving Company's shave soap as well and the two products work great together. If you get a rash or ingrown hairs after shaving, such as in the neck/throat area, you should consider giving this product a try. Sure, it adds another step to shaving, but from my experience, its worth it!

Very happy with this.
I was curious about this one. I've been using their shaving cream for years and thought I try it. I was surprised how well it exfoliates. Not harsh and could probably use it every day (I don't) but is worth it.

A Mild exfoliating wash, but drying nonetheless.
This is marketed as a wash that can be used everyday. It is indeed a milder exfoliating wash than most you will find. It doesn't have nearly the grainy texture that many exfoliating washes due. Another thing that is different about this wash is that it is a gel not a cream wash, which is rare among exfoliating washes. I was somewhat surprised by this. It has a clear gel base with blue beads suspended in it. It also has a more soapy smell, as opposed to the shave cream and oil, which have a lemony/citrus scent. Overall, I used it a couple of times and discontinued using it. The main reason for this is because I found it to be drying. I have dry skin naturally and using this made my face feel tight and I did not like it. I went back to the drugstore St. Ives brand, which is is cheaper, cream based and only supposed to be used a couple times a week. St. Ives is a little drying as well, but if I only use it once or twice a week, it isn't that bad and it lasts a long time. For my daily face wash, I use the Dove for men Sensitive face wash, which I find much works much better at gently cleaning your face.

Good stuff!
I like Pacific's stuff and this wash is good too. You just need a little bit even though it doesn't lather up a lot like some washes. I'd say it's more mildly exfoliating and not super scrubby. I have oily skin so I can use this every morning, but it may not work as well for those with dry skin. I wouldn't mind if it was a bit stronger, but it seems to do the job. I don't find the performance to be amazing, but I like that it seems to be a reasonable price and has good ingredients.

Excellent product, I wish the tube was bigger!
I love this stuff! It is not drying, does not have any offensive smells, and does not make my skin break out the way most frilly natural fancy man products do. The little chunks of exfoliating things are really plentiful, it scrubbs up your face really well. I'd use this every day from now on forever if it wasn't so darn expensive. The little tube doesn't last much more than a few weeks. Also, note that this does NOT contain plastic "microbeads" for exfoliant. If you care at all about the health of aquatic life, do not purchase products that contain microbeads. Most cheap exfoliants are microbeads.
