Move over, Cold Steel—there’s a new Sensei in town.
My kid is getting this Master USA Training Sword for Christmas to begin his journey into the shadows. But before I let him start his ninja training, I had to put this thing through a rigorous "Quality Control" session (which is parent-speak for "swinging it around the living room while making 'whoosh' sounds when no one was looking"). The "Expert" Verdict: I used to sell Cold Steel knives and swords back in the day, so my bar for "practice gear" is higher than a double-jumping rogue. I’ve handled their legendary polypropylene practice swords, and honestly? This one is just like them—but actually better. The Build: It’s made of heavy-duty Black Polypropylene that feels indestructible. The Style: It has a Short Samurai style that is perfectly balanced for a kid-sized ninja. The Handle: The Samurai Style Handle provides a grip so secure, it’s not going anywhere during an intense sparring session. The "Sparring" Reality: This is legitimate Sparring Practice Equipment. It’s got that "thunk" factor you want. I tested the quality beforehand, and it’s solid enough to take a beating without shattering like those cheap plastic toy-store versions. It’s got the heft of a real weapon but the safety of high-grade poly. Final Verdict: If you want your child to become the next Hokage (or just stop breaking your broomsticks while pretending they are katanas), buy this. As a former sword pro, I give it the official seal of approval. 12/10. My kid is going to be the most dangerous person at the Christmas tree this year.

Great Sword at a Great Price
I am impressed with the quality of the sword for the price when I purchased it ($6+). I would be hard pressed to find one locally or at a store that would come close to the cost and look of it. It's detailed on the blade and has a sturdy feel in the hand. This sword would mainly be used for costume and cosplay purposes, and for that it's well worth it. I'm not sure how long it will last if you actually try to use it for training or go hard with physical contact but for waving around and in looks/feel, it's difficult to argue against it.

Are These Refurbs or New
Excited to finally get the sword. I open the package (mind you it's not shipped in any kind of container to safeguard the sword) when to my surprise the sword it is clearly bent (and badly bent). Annoyed I force the blade in the opposite direction to straighten it out. It mostly works. Back to the sword that is "safely shipped" in a regular clear plastic bag (as a sheath). I start to inspect it and find there is very small cut/smashed part in the blade on one side (where the bend is). So maybe in a warehouse or shipping something was stacked on it and damaged the "hard plastic"... On top of that I flip it over and on the other side there is about a quarter inch by quarter inch dig on blade. Not deep but clearly dug/scrapped out. Mind you this was all inside the plastic bag sheath which wasn't damaged in the least. So "refurb" or "new". That's pretty clear. I got someone else's toy that they played around with. Now for the rest of the review. Despite all that I find I really do like the sword. It really is pretty sturdy. So I'm surprised at the how it ended up in the shape that it was on arrival. After a few days playing around with it, I'm still thrilled with this purchase. The price was great ($7) and the product feels nice and balanced that I can easily swing it around. This plastic does feel rather reliable and I really can't complain. If I comes back in stock I will probably try purchasing another 3 or 4 and beat them into the condition I got this one in.

Surprisingly Great Quality
I saw these on sale for just over $6 (US) each and figured, why not give them a try? I bought four for my younger son and his friends to use (they've been making movies using their phones). I am pleasantly surprised and impressed by how solid these feel, how good the quality is. These are NOT soft like Nerf swords (also fun), so the boys are careful not to stab each other. You could injure someone with this if you wanted to, or if your young hooligan tried filing it to make it sharp. Great quality, especially for the price, I recommend these for responsible use. (Idiots could use Nerf and cause minimal damage, but these are solid and have some heft.)

Amazing for Cosplay
I think this still deserves a 5 star rating even though I think it's a little too pricey. Needs to be about 10% to 15% cheaper in my opinion. But it shipped really fast and it's a really sturdy and hard plastic. I don't intend on using it for anything but cosplay, but I can say that it feels pretty light and handles well. If you want something to really practice with, it likely doesn't have the weight of a real sword, but it's a decent alternative. If you're looking to cosplay with a bokken, then this is worth. I also got 2 of this because of 2 of my original characters using a katana based weapon. Leaving the hilt off makes it look more like an unsheathed katana in my opinion, but it does stay on very well. Only thing I wish is that it also came in a blue color, but that's more personal preference and not really important for a product review. Getting some specialized paint for these is recommended if using for cosplay.

Great For Costume Prop
Great sturdy sword. Used it for Halloween to be Leonardo while my son was Michelangelo. He even uses these still to this day just to be Leo himself.

Perfect
My 9 year old uses this to perfect his hitting on a dummy. It is a tough sword. We made a sheath out of duct tape. First, wrap the tape around the sword with the sticky side out, then go back over it with the sticky side down. I love that I spent less than $10. He wishes it was longer but I think it's a great deal and long enough for him for now.

For the price, these can't be beat. They are not metal so obviously don't expect that! They are very sturdy plastic but can take a beating. They just look so cool, rare to find 80's style Katana-To style swords of any kind so these were great. The handles are well designed and feel great for plastic. I bought two of them to fit the double pack sword harness (see picture) and its perfection. For the price, what more do you want? They are not cheap dollar store quality, they are much much better than that!

My grandson LOVES this. It is a practice sword and not a toy, for sure. Well worth the money. Well made, durable, great material ... JUST THE TICKET for a kid who loves to " learn the moves" of anime. LOL Just make sure he practices where there is a lot of free space around him.

This sword is great. Seems well constructed and straight. My only issue is the Katana version of this isn't straight. Just wonder why that is the case? I purchased 2 ninja and 2 katanas. Both Katanas are warped, but the ninja swords are perfect.
