This solution works perfectly to keep your razor clean AND lubricated. The lube is the really important feature here and the reason you want to spend the extra money instead of just cleaning your razor with only water. In time your blades will dull and you'll have to replace the expensive head a lot faster if you're only using a brush and/or water. This solution will prolong the life of your razor head AND also keep it cutting closer and smoother during it's lifespan. Totally worth it.

The new line of Panasonic shavers uses the special detergent listed here. While the cleaning system is an improvement over the previous design, it's still not as thoughtfully planned out as the one made by Braun. The previous Panasonic shavers used a cartridge that was placed in the bottom of the cleaning system. There was a water tank on the back that coordinated with the cartridge and did an admiral job of cleaning the shaver. What Panasonic doesn't want you to know about, is the fact that the cleaning system used on all previous versions of their shavers were improperlyy designed, leading to leakage and premature failure. That's why you see the new design here. What I don't understand, is why they didn't simply engineer a cleaning system similar to the one made by Braun. Unlike Panasonic, the Braun system has been proven over a 10+ year period. With theirs, all you do is replace the cartridge when indicated to do so. With this one, it's a little more complicated, as you have to remove the dirty water tank, clean it and add the special detergent. No, it's not a big deal, but since I believe in simplicity, I would have preferred a system similar to the Braun. The bottom line is that this detergent works well in the new Panasonic shavers. It remains to be seen if the new cleaning system will be without issues, or if it will be a constant source of problems, like its predecessor was.

A good product and less expensive than what most other companies are selling it for. Be aware that similar and less expensive products may not include a lubricant which is important to help keep the foil cool and shaver blades sharp. Directions are in Japanese, but it's not rocket science. Empty the packet into the cleaned reservoir and fill to the line with water. Done! Also, if you gently brush the whiskers from the foil and blades once a week (or more often if you wish) before cleaning, the detergent will last for two to three months.

I use the detergent with the cleaning machine that came with the shaver. It leaves the head and cutters clean and fresh smelling. No complaints.

These seem to work great to keep the razor clean without extra effort. My husband cleans his shaver after using it while showering, but puts it in the cleaner once a week to clean and charge it. It makes it easy for him to maintain his shaver and keep it in top working condition. You definitely want to order these in advance as it may take a while to receive them.
