I have a fractured vertebra, and this cushion, developed by New Zealand physiotherapist specializing in the spine Robin McKenzie and recommended by my PT, helps better than anything else I've tried with sitting--in the car, at my desk, in a movie theater or restaurant, on an airplane--as well as lying on my back and side while sleeping. It's simultaneously cushy and firm, and lightweight so it's easy to carry with me and to adjust its position while sitting or lying down. The covering is a soft fabric that helps it stay in place, rather than the slippery plastic of many inflatables, and is removable via a zipper. One (minor) thing that would make it even better: make the adjustable strap intended to hold it in position on chair/seat backs removable. I can see that it might be useful for some, but I do not use the strap in this way and it would be easier to carry it in a purse/tote/backpack if I could remove it--although since the strap is permanently there I do sometimes just sling it over my arm to carry it from, e.g., car to restaurant!
