Ford 289
Used this to replace the valve guide seals on my 1967 289. Worked perfectly using compressed air to hold the valve up. Others have stated that the handle was hard to turn, or was hard on the hands. Their valve springs must be much harder to compress than mine. While it would have been nice to have a thicker handle, it wasn't necessary for my application. I had all 16 valve seals changed in about 3 hours using this tool for my first time.

Just good enough to be dangerous to you and your engine
I Purchased the Performance Tool W84001 Overhead Valve Spring Compressor in order to change the valve stem seals on my 19+ year old truck. The jaws that hold the spring are not angled enough to hang onto the spring once it's compressed. The result is the tool randomly flying off while you're working. This is very dangerous when working with Springs that take 100+ lbs to compress and have the power to damage you or your vehicle. Very poor quality control. Made cheaply enough to be attractive from a price standpoint but never seriously intended to be useful.

... of a stronger grade metal it would be alot better
It got the job done but it kept bending and slipping off the spring also the handle you cant turn with bare hands if they would put a bolt head on it and made it out of a stronger grade metal it would be alot better

Work Great...If You Modify Them.
This spring compressor works great...once you modify it.The flanges at the end of the jaws that catch the spring are at a 90 degree angle to the jaws so there is no positive lock under pressure. This means that they will slip off as soon as you start to compress the spring. This can be fixed but bending the jaws inward. This requires a bit of strength because the jaws are actually quite strong. Once you do this, they work just fine.I imagine that for some valve springs without dampers, these might work unmodified but you'd still be better off bending the jaws.

Wish I bought this one first
Awesome product. Broke a different valve spring compressor, ordered this one, was here the next day. Took springs off a edelbrock 5089 head. Seat pressure 125lbs- 320lbs pressure @ .500 no problem. On the table or on the engine, you want this.

There are easier ways to take out the valve springs ...
There are easier ways to take out the valve springs. This tool is awkward and scary because the springs can shoot out of the tool.

Fait ce quil doit faire
Enlevé les springs de tête dun moteur à pushing rods.Si cest pour petits moteurs je ne conseille pas ce model car parfois le spings ne sont pas accessible par le top.

Adequate... Barely
Valve spring compression tools should be able to first off hold on to the spring which they're compressing. These were amazingly frustrating to use until I ground and reshaped the pawls. A little finishing work would go a long way.
