It does the job.
I needed the tape for the hose to my rv connections in advance of a hard freeze. It did the job great and my water did not freeze!

Works but difficult to install
Product works to protect pipes as advertised. The one major caveat is that it is very difficult to apply. Adhesions ok but if space around pipe is tight, it will stick to itself and makes it difficult to get to stay. Using other tape to start and at the end helps.

Wipe off your pipes first.
Looking at other reviews here, you'd think the adhesive on this item is nonexistent. However, I'd be willing to bet money that the people having problems did not wipe the pipes off first and tried to put it on over a layer of dust. If you do it that way, -no- type of adhesive is ever going to stick. I used this tape to insulate exposed 5/8" copper hot water pipes coming off a basement electric hot water heater. After wiping my pipes off, this stuff sticks great, even with the added heat from the water passing through the pipe. After running the hot water, then letting it sit for an hour or so for the pipes to cool the pipe now remains warm up to the point where the wrapping ends, so it appears to be doing its job. I am subtracting one star, though, because of the 5 rolls I bought, one of them was defective, and the foam rubber backing separated from the foil. The vendor is sending a replacement that should be here tomorrow, which will allow me to finish insulating up to the point the pipe goes up into the floor.

Did the job. Not worried about mt pipes freezing now. We don't get a lot of hard freezing weather here in Central Texas, so our houses are not built for extreme cold that lasts a day or two, but we can withstand a hurricane. ;-)

Weak adhesive, small roll of product
This is a simple foam tape backed with aluminum tape on one end. The adhesive is very weak and needs to be reinforced with other tape on top. Also the roll which comes in the package is very small and is suitable for only a small section of pipe. To do an average size insulation job, one would need 5x the volume, and then the costs add up to a lot. it does what it is intended to do, but does not seem like good value.

It’s a fine product, but there really isn’t much of it.
