I needed this size dowel for a project and thought the price looked good. When they came in I was a bit disappointed as they are made of some kind of soft wood? I'm sorry but it could be that I didn't know what Balsa was but the description says that these are "hardwood". They are not! They are the correct size for my projects but too soft to use. You can cut these with scissors but the ends bend or squeeze together when you do and it looks like they are a little hollow inside. When I cut them with my mini miter saw it's a bit better but not by much. In the pic the one on the bottom was cut with scissors and the one on top was cut with a mini miter saw. I ended up purchasing something else. So sorry.

Perfect, for framing for chinese lanterns for center pieces.

Easy to cut and glue. Had to build 24 of these trestle bents and it was made easier using this wood and very strong when constructed. Love working with this and just ordered some smaller square strips to continue the build.
