My dishwasher always has a build up of lime/calcium. I saw this on reddit in the UK. I googled it for the US and found this one. Ever since buying this one, my dishwasher has not has a build up. This is a great product becuase it also fills onto one of the spikes in the top shelf.

Works great in my washer and hard water

It makes a lot of noise inside the washing machine. I guess you need to rap it firmly with clothes to supress the sound. The magnets inside the ball are very weak hence would have little effect on the water and so doesn't deserve its price.

I hated to see my dishwashers heating elements and stainless interior get the white cloudy film on it from the calcium buildup. I read about these magnetic balls and bought some. So glad I did. The heating elements, the interior and of course the dishes look brand new. No more white cloudy build up. I use it in every cycle including the Sanitary cycle. A note regarding K. Kiseda's review regarding water temp. of 60°. The manufacturer 's address is in London, England, so I would say the 60° is Celsius not farienheit. The photo shows the heating element of my 6 month old dishwasher which used to be white and chalky looking.

No noticeable difference in lime scale after 3 weeks of use in dishwasher. My husband calls it my “orgone generator”.

I bought the item because of the lime in the water. Put into the dishwasher right away and can tell no difference. Had planned on buying another for the washing machine, but will not after seeing how it does not work.

USELESS - If you look at the back of the package, it states not to use in wash loads above 60 degrees. My COLD tap water comes out at 72 degrees. I would have to add ice to the wash to reduce it below 60. Like I said USELESS!

Does it work? Not a clue. Haven't had any issues with our washing machine so let that be a testament! The quality is decent. This recent purchase was a replacement as the last one broke into pieces, which we'd had for a while. I will be buying a second for our dishwasher at some point too. Easy to use - just chuck it in with your washing. No odour from the ball and also not from our machine. Value for money was questionable initially as it's a hard to measure benefit. But as the machine hasn't had any limescale issues and it lasted as long as it did, I suppose it's good value.
