I just built an outdoor sauna, and saw a video where the fellow had used this type of door catch. Sauna needs something reliable and able to hold a heavy door closed so as not to lose any heat. I was sceptical these would do the job but gave them a try. I thought I would have to use both, but started with one and it holds the heavy cedar and tempered glass door tight! Great product for my needs.

The design is decent, they’re made fairly well, and they affectively perform the task they’re designed for. With that said, the screws are too short and too thin, and the spring-loaded ball is loud when you open the door and it springs back. The photo in the ad also shows a retaining sleeve that would lock the housing in place once adjusted. Without that ring the entire body turns and changes its position over time. I modified mine by inserting a thin o-ring between the ball and housing, and I applied grease to the interior of the housing. I also added a drop of blue thread lock to hold the body in position. Those mods significantly reduced the sound and made the product work the way it should.

Worked great easy to replace our broken one. Would recommend.

Very nice quality all around. I ended up going a different route but not because of this hardware. The doors you use this on must be absolutely plumbed and square. These will hold but the lightest preload or even a strong breeze would pop them open even on the strongest setting. Square, smooth door - no problem.
