This is a very cheap metal copy of the classic British army Mark III compass from WWII, originally made by Francis Barker & Son. It barely works, possibly because in order to lower the cost all of the components are cheap and some of them are also magnetic. It is okay for playing with, but I wouldn't take it into a wilderness. Proper new ones by Pyser Optics (who bought out FB&S) look similar and cost about £250, so for what you get, a toy, it's good value. And it's not lensatic, it's definitely prismatic.
