Burg-Wachter 2M Sold Secure Lock Kit Bike, Black, 2M

This lock comprises a really solid hardened steel chain encased in a tough fabric sleeve that protects your bike, and a chunky lock (you get three keys). The chain is Sold Secure Platinum and the lock Sold Secure Gold, so it meets the requirements for expensive bikes insured in the UK at least. I bought the two metre chain which allows me to run the chain through a wall anchor and then through mine and my wife's bikes. I would recommend this lock kit to secure your bike(s) at home, but whilst you're out cycling, I think this lock is too heavy to take with you, comfortably at least. You can feel the strength in the chain links by the way they clink solidly. It feels like an angle-grinder would take so long trying to cut through the links as to alert you to see what was happening. The lock is designed only to take the two ends of the chain, not to attach through your bike frame. This small size of the U-lock means it is hard to get any leverage if a thief tried to prise the shackle open. At £35, this robust, well made lock kit is, how do I put it...a steal! The Sold Secure Gold rating makes it really worth the money, and the long chain makes it very practical. I highly recommend it.

Now the chain is nice and heavy has a great tough sleeve that I can see causing problems to angle grinders however the sleeve is short by about 2 links making it fairly easy to just avoid cutting the sleeve and just cutting a link. The shackle lock works ok and would probably be quite difficult to cut with bolt cutters but I don't think it's angle grinder resistant. My insurance company accepted it as part of the extra security for my motorbike so that's a bonus but I wouldn't rely on it as your only form of security

Decent quality lock. Be warned that it is heavy (around 3kg for the 2m version). It hasn't come under any type of attack while I've been using it, but it seems to be sturdy enough to withstand a prolonged attack. The chain is Sold Secure Gold rated, and the lock is Sold Secure Diamond rated, so it's useful for insurance if you've got a high value bike. Though it goes without saying that the more locks you have, the better. But this is more than suitable as a main lock. Overall, I would recommend this.

Good and solid chain and lock

These locks are very solid and very heavy. Simple and easy to lock and unlock. Exactly what I wanted and they meet the insurers requirements.

Brilliant chains and locks. As my motorbike is parked in my driveway all year round, I have two for for the rear wheel of my secured to a ground anchor. I have a smaller going through the front wheel. I'm quite confident that even if someone attempted to nick by pride and joy, they would have a really tough time getting through them. Great price and insurance approved as well. Can't really go wrong.

Seems a good strong chain. Though a bit heavy for me to carry around on my mobility scooter, but meets insurance requirements if I have to pop into a small shop that I'm unable to take my mobility scooter in. One key doesn't operate in the lock as smoothly as the other key.... bad key cutting

L'ho preso pensando potesse andar bene per la bici ma purtroppo per me è davvero troppo pesante. Andrebbe decisamente meglio per una moto. Sembra molto resistente e anche il lucchetto sembra ottimo, anche le chiavi di ferro non si piegano e si vede che sono di qualità. Ho dovuto fare il reso solo per il peso, altrimenti l'avrei tenuto. Di sicuro ha un aspetto massiccio e direi che scoraggia i ladri.
