Fun kit for a rainy day.
I'm giving this inexpensive kit five stars because it's good value for the $ and a nice way to kill some time on a rainy afternoon. The pakka wood panels I got resembled cocobolo and shaped up nicely. They are generously thick and can be planed down to the desired width with care. A light coat of furniture oil shined them right up after sanding and polishing. The kit isn't perfect. The aluminum pins that come with it got binned as soon as I saw them. The holes in the blade were too small to use screw together pins I have, So, I made some copper ones out of 100+ year old power line wire I found in the woods. Epoxy is doing the heavy lifting on attachment, anyway. I wish they hadn't predrilled the lanyard holes in the grip pieces. They didn't line up with the hole in the blade with the grips fitted against the bolster. The included tube was also aluminum like the pins. I epoxied in two sections of brass tubing I had after failing to make the grip holes larger to line up. I quit while I was behind. =P Had some rivets and leather from other projects and quickly cobbled together a working sheath to complete the project. Again, don't let the details stop you from considering the kit. It does eventually turn out okay with a little extra work.

Great kit!!!
This is a good knife kit. It's comprehensive and is very well packed. I purchased this as a gift so I didn't build it myself. I sent to my grandson who's currently deployed. He wrote to thank me and praised the knife.

Fun kit, would be better without the predrilled holes
So far the knife it pretty nice. I’ve seen the reviews of people dropping them and the blade breaking and have not had that issue, but I haven’t dropped it yet. The kit is really nice, having two choices for handle material is a cool add on, but the holes in my kit didn’t line up with the holes in the tang, so I used some scrap wood I had lying around the shop. In my opinion, the knife turned out great, I wish it would have included a sheath; but that would likely drive the price up. Good, useable knife for a good price.

Great DIY project
I was looking for something to use with antler that wouldn’t break the bank and came in a kit with all the parts. These turned out better than I thought they would. These served as Christmas gifts for my family and my first attempt at custom knives. With two handle styles it gave me a do-over when I messed up. Well worth the cost.

very disappointed
i bought this as a project to work with my young nephew on. We got it built and seemed like an extremely nice knife. He was very proud of the job he had done on it. Fortunately or unfortunately he dropped it on the floor the other day and it broke in half. were talking 3 foot drop onto a wood floor. He was very upset. I am very upset that he put all that work into a piece of garbage knife kit
