I bought these over identical-looking competing products for 3 main reasons: Available in 6pkwhile many competing products are only 8/12pk (I only needed 3) , the option of 3 colors, and good value in terms of price per unit. Installation in general is pretty easy. Remove the number of punch-outs you need from the control box, install 3/8" NM clamps (not included), run the Romex wire through them, and wire it up using the included wire nuts. Then push the box up into the hole. It does have screw holes for securing it if you want, but most people (myself included) don't bother. Then plug in the light, position the spring clips where they will go into the hole, and pop it in. I replaced a couple flush-mount "boob lights" with these, so there was a bit more work involved in cutting out the original junction boxes, but once the junction boxes were removed (4" round type), I was left with the perfect sized hole for these to pop right into. At least, that was the case with my upstairs hallway. My basement hallway was built by the homeowner, and his junction box hole was a lot more sloppy, so I did have to do a bit of trimming to get the hole right. I didn't have to worry about thickness since mine went into existing junction box holes, but they're very thin. They would definitely clear any joists in 1/2" drywall if you need them to. After installation, they look great! I love the clean, flat look. They were also surprisingly bright. The old "boob lights" had 15W (60W equiv) CFL in them that were supposed to be 800-Lumens. These at 650-Lumens are significantly brighter. It seemed a little too bright at first for a hallway, but I've gotten used to it and it feels just right now. The only minor complaint I have, is between the 2 in the upstairs hallway, both set to 4000K, one is noticeably warmer than the other. However, it's not annoying enough to make me want to go to the trouble to try swapping out the lights and/or control box, especially since wiring the upstairs ones was made a bit difficult since the builder of my house secured all the wiring to the ceiling joists leaving me with very little slack to work with. I didn't ding them a star because I'd say I'm 95% happy with them and very glad I went for these 4" recessed rather than just nicer looking flush mount fixtures.

I purchase two 6 packs of these and installed them over the course of two days. The install was straight forward. Mark and cut the holes, run the power and plug each one in. Make sure you have a switched power supply because you need to power them on and off three times to put them in pairing mode. The directions recommend only pairing up to 6 at a time, but I was able to do all twelve at once. Wifi needs to be on the 2.4 GHz and you need to have your mobile device also on the 2.4 signal for these to connect. The app is a bit wonky to work with to set up scenes. They advertise millions of colors, but its a simple color wheel. Would be better with the color block that allows more options. Alexa connected pretty easily. So far I can only have Alexa turn them on and off. I have not been able to have Alexa change the colors or scenes(custom program) yet. You can group the lights.. I.E. all the odd lights to one scene and the evens to another. The Cons now. Sometimes when I turn them on as a whole or group, one of them won't power up so I have to go into the app and turn it on manually. Last night I shut them off and woke up around midnight with one of them on all by itself. It would be nice to see a full video of setting up scenes. Will update as I find more issues. It's only been two days

These lights are a rare find. High quality/CRI, low power, and adjustable color temp from 3000K/4000K/5000K all at a fairly low price. The only real way to know how good they are is to measure them and they deliver! Results using Sekonic Spectromaster C-800-U: 3000K setting: 2984K, CRI/Ra=92.8, TLCI=92, R9=60.2 4000K setting: 3847K, CRI/Ra=94.8, TLCI=94, R9=73.6 5000K setting: 5241K, CRI/Ra=93.6, TLCI=94, R9=68.5 (See pics for screen shots of measurements.) 4000K is slightly the best setting, but all the color temps are so good…take your pick and enjoy. Power consumption is as advertised at 10.03W at 100% (not dimmed). BTW, they dim great and the color measurements stay consistent across the dimming range. I have 6 of these above my large kitchen island at the 4000K setting and color representation/brightness is fantastic.

Unfortunately I like this product a lot but it is fundamentally flawed. During initial setup these lights will strobe light to show that they're in pairing mode. Which wouldn't be a big deal if it didn't happen again as I have a handicapped brother that has seizures. After initial setup these lights would randomly go into strobe light mode and you'd have to turn them off and back on. I even ordered a second box thinking that would fix the issue but it did not. This seems to happen when the electric would go out for just a second or if it lost Wi-Fi connection to the router . It wasn't my router as I only had it connected to 2.4 and tried a different router and it had the same issue. Reached out to the company and had no response. These devices also were not on a dimmer switch. Some of the lights also had a light electrical hum. I ended up switching to a different brand called commercial electric and they do not strobe light nor do they make electrical hum. The breaking point was when my brother walked into the bathroom and turned the lights on, they started strobe lighting and he had a seizure. These devices should not be sold!

Love these. Had existing 4” recessed lights in my soffit and swapped them out for these so I could change colors for holidays. Got a set of smart landscape lights so I could have them match as well. Easy to install. Easy to setup. User friendly app. Plan on doing purple/orange for Halloween and red/green for Christmas. I’ll do warm white the rest of the year. Easy to program different colors. Love the timer option for them automatically turning on at sunset so I never have to adjust based on season/daylight savings.

I purchased these lights to install in my garage. Because these are controllable by an app, I assume they could be hardwired always-on. But, in order to pair them with your app, you need to have them wired to a switch. So, read all the directions before you start pulling wire. After wiring in a switch and toggling three times, they all paired. My WiFi isn’t great, but all six lights paired. Compatibility with google home is a bonus. They are bright and responsive. Perfect for working in the garage. I also liked the push nut connections. I found them secure and tidy. Great product.
