A game for those destined to win - period
Munchkin Space is a hilarous and makes fun of all that is true and good in space operas. Following the basic munchkin principe to "kill the monsters, steal the treasure and stab your buddy" the game does not take itself, too serious. Ultimate goal of all Munchkin (i.e. power gamer, rule optimizer, potencer) is to reach level 10. Even if you have to obliterate a planet, trample highly superior unfortunately very tiny aliens or give your game master a massage (theres a card for all of this and more) to gain one level. Don't ask why. Just enjoy.

May the MUNCHKIN be with You
Long time gamers will already know Steve Jackson Games from their long history of RPG wins like TOON and GURPS. Since the wildly successful introduction of SJG's D&D and Magic: The Gathering parody/game system MUNCHKIN there have been many spin-offs, expansions and dips into other non-fantasy genres like The Old West, SuperHero, Vampire, Spy, Zombies, Post-Apocalyptic, Cthulhu, Pirates and now SPACE!You and up to 6 friends (10 year olds to Senior Citizens) can still Kill the monsters, steal the treasure and stab your buddy only in... Zero gravity rather than a dungeon. Players still work their way up from level one to see who can reach level ten first. Players progress acquiring bonuses via cellophane space suits, faithful robot sidekicks, photon cutlasses and lazer weapons (like the Bananafsnafofaser), while fighting Worminators, slaughterbots, space amazons to the Great Cthulhu himself. Players may use traps to hinder others, hallucinogenic nanobot devices and even plot devices to help other players for a selfish cut of the treasure (space treasure, that is). Available to offer further special abilities are classes each Star Munchkin can become like: Gadgeteers, Bounty Hunters, Psychic and Traders. Combine these with space races like: Feline, Mutants, Cyborg and you've got yourself a game. Combine this set with any other genre of Munchkin and you have another game even. Like Star Munchkin and Munchkin Booty for a game of Space Pirates!New Gamer Note: You should know this set is as easy to manage quick start up whether you've played before or not, but it you haven't played any version of Munchkin before a word of warning ... The rules refer to the Door Deck and the Treasure Deck, it's slightly less obvious without the dungeon motif on the cards so the Treasure cards are a darker blue and has mostly gadgets, while the Door deck is a lighter blue, slightly larger with all the Monster cards in it. When you open the box some of these May be shrinker wrapped with the Treasure cards so you will need to sort a bit before shuffling the two decks separately. Head's up parents, like all of the Munchkin sets some of the material is risqué at times, but not more than MAD magazine.

Good Addition
My family owns the original Munchkin, and I've played Zombie Munchkin, Pirate Munchkin, Munchkin Apocalypse, and Munchkin Cthulu (with all its themed boosters). I also own the boosters: Fairy Dust, Fairy Dust Dice, Munchkinomicon, Munchkin Reloaded!, and Monster Enhancers.Gotta say, Star Munchkin is probably my favorite.Pros:Clever cards that mock and parody Star Wars, Star Trek, Classic Doctor Who, and SciFi in general.Monsters with creative Bad Stuff and cool (and sometimes frighteningly evil) special abilities.High level monsters that will pursue lower levels, but with Bad Stuff that wouldn't hurt a low level player too much. (I like this.)Nice art style, easy to read cards.Sidekicks add a cool element to the game.Nice classes.Powerful, creative races.Interesting weapons that have some cool special abilities.Crazy strong curses, but also more ways to avoid those curses. Some really horrible Bad Stuff for some monsters, but also more ways to escape. Many opportunities to have extra hands, heads, feet, etc., so this makes combining with another Munchkin game nice. I mean, one time somebody had 8 hands at one time (including the four-armed Loud Hairy Alien Sidekick)!Pros Overall: This game, unlike the Original Munchkin, requires players to do more thinking, as you can't just stand around and take hits, but have to actively avoid them. More risk and cost-benefit assessment. So I like it a lot.Cons:As with other Munchkin games, some of the cards are a little vague. Go to the forums to find more info.More emphasis on player gender, and more opportunities to get things twisted around. This could be good or bad, but for me it is bad. Some of the artwork, as in the original Munchkin, is... suggestive. Just scantily clad women usually, and one guy in a tight outfit (you see nothing, but it is implied, if you know what I mean). Not kid-friendly, but for teens or adults it should be fine.Cons Overall: Nothing that veteran Munchkin players would be concerned with. And honestly, the PG stuff is less overall than say Munchkin Impossible and comparable to the Original Munchkin.Overall Overall: If you like SciFi or just want a Munchkin with stiffer benefits/penalties, this is the Munchkin for you.

My favorite Munchkin theme
I find Munchkin to be a fun game to play every now and then. I started with Munchkin Deluxe, and liked it so much I decided to branch out to a couple of the variations. I'm glad I did because Star Munchkin is my favorite theme of the Munchkin franchise (I also own Fantasy Munchkin and The Good, The Bad, and The Munchkin... and have played Zombie Munchkin a few times). The set includes 168 cards, including 94 door cards and 74 treasure cards. This set includes 3 races (everyone starts out as human, but you can also be mutant, feline, or cyborg) and 4 classes (you can be a gadgeteer, psychic, trader, or bounty hunter). As with the original game, you can't take it too seriously. It's not about winning, it's about having fun along the way and appreciating all the SciFi spoofs. We laugh, we shout, we root against and sometimes even for each other. You try to stick it to your friends before they stick it to you. There are a lot of ways this can happen and I always enjoy seeing how it's going to happen next.
