S1 is source positive, S2 is source negative, L1 is load positive and L2 is load negative. Hope this helps.

Q: How many plans come with unit?

The literature is printed on an 11" x 17" sheet. One side of the sheet is English. The other side contains some squiggly characters from some other language. The illustrations are generally good, although the three sample schematics are tiny ... I had to use a magnifying glass.

Q: What are the draw amps when idle and active?

The battery runs the clock electronics and motor. But of course the battery will run down. So you connect a 12 volt DC power supply, to keep the battery charged. I measured the input current, and it's roughly 7 to 8mA (between 7/1000 and 8/1000 amp). That's quite low. It may be somewhat higher if the internal battery is significantly discharged, but I didn't want to take several days to run down the battery in my timer. The bigger question is: how much current is required by your load device (LED lights, etc.)? It will undoubtedly be a lot more than the timer itself needs.
