Product Highlights Small size; just over 2" diameter, about 7/8" high Pre-applied 3M™ VHB™ adhesive for quick, secure installation Rare-earth neodymium motor and a proprietary voice coil 4 ohms impedance for use with small, Class D amplifiers 20 watt RMS power handling for high output Product Manuals / Spec Sheets / Downloads Dayton Audio DAEX25VT-4 Specification Sheet AddThis Sharing Buttons Share to FacebookFacebook Share to TwitterTwitter Share to MoreAddThis Product Description Dayton Audios 25 mm DAEX25VT-4 coin type exciter features the same ability to turn nearly any surface into a speaker, as other exciters and tactile transducers, only in a more compact package for working with smaller surfaces. This exciters small size enables audio reproduction in places never imagined: toys, monitors, cabinet doors... even windows! A neodymium magnet is employed to create maximum magnetic flux around the proprietary voice coil for increased sensitivity when compared to similar sized exciters. In turn, this reduces power requirements and makes it possible to use very small audio amplifiers, without sacrificing total output. The 1" voice coil, and cooling vents, allows for more input power for higher output applications while maintaining a slim-line form factor. To ensure maximum acoustic energy transfer between the transducer and the surface to which it is attached, 3M VHB (Very High Bond) adhesive is pre-applied... just peel and stick! Two PCB solder points keep installation and wiring as compact as possible. Note: An exciters frequency response and sensitivity are completely dependent on the exciters designated surface. Thinner, smaller materials will tend to be louder and create a mid/tweeter response. Thicker, larger materials (with multiple exciters) will be slightly quieter but result in a more full-range sound. Awesome product!
Put this in my electric guitar with 2 mini amp chips and a cell phone battery to make a feedback machine. Works amazingly well! Shakes the whole guitar, and don't need an amp cab to practice this will do it.

If you've been watching YouTube how-to videos, read this
These things work fine, no big complaints with the product itself.Half of us are here because we saw a video of someone putting drivers on big chunks of foam board insulation to make speakers. I made them, in fact I made a couple different designs of them. They sound awful, and you'll hear loud buzzing at low frequencies. Could've bought a MUCH better whole speaker pair for the price of that little project.

Good stuff.
Good stuff but the adhesive takes a while to stick. Its a permanent seal if under normal stress like on a foam board with regular use. Super glue fixed the problem.

Nice but....
I bought two to make foam speakers with. They work fine but where the wire attaches to the exciter is too small. It is hard to attach anything larger than an 18 to 20-gauge wire. I had 16 gauge but was unable to properly solder the wires to the very small ears.

Exciting Exciter
This exciter was just what I was looking for. It has been fun testing different materials to attach it to. Everyone has been amazed turning normal objects into speakers. So far cardboard and plastic storage bin lids sound the best. Definitely needs to be paired with a subwoofer. Low-end sounds are lacking.

Sounds good
Verry good sound quality. Powering a pair off a 25W+25W Bluetooth class D amp. Mounted to 12" x 12" X 1/8" polly carbonate pannel. Exciters mounted off center, 2/5" in 2/5" down. The pannels are suspended. Why didn't know about these before...

Ok sound. I was more noobish when I ordered these
These sound ok. No big sound. My biggest issues with these are that the part where you hook up your wires are incredibly delicate and small! I ended up soldering them on but I was afraid I was going to screw up the speaker since my soldering skills are quite lacking.

Good build quality
Works great for fill in audio to your main audio source.I used these on flat foam panels I constructed.
