So much easier to find what you need than rummaging through lots of herb & spice pots - seems robust and looks stylish in the kitchen.

Marvellous idea

I bought the herb-filled version of this first as I liked the novel compact design despite it being made of plastics. That one seemed to function well enough for me to order the spice-filled version. However, the jury is still out on the spice version as the very fine ground spices seem to cling to the acrylic container and it’s tricky trying to pour a spice out. Obviously, you don’t really have the option of taking the lid off and spooning or pouring a spice out. Needless to say I already have concerns about cleaning this jar out. I feel myself gravitating back to a simple glass jar with a screw lid that I can spoon spices from. The other major disappointment with this item, and one that I didn’t expect from this brand is that what they claim to be ‘cinnamon’ is actually cassia. They really need to disclose this both on Amazon and the packaging!

Malzeme çok iyi. Kapağın kilit kısmını açmak gerçekten zorlar ama benim için sorun değil. Bu ürünü baharat için değil; kuru kahve,süt tozu ve şekeri bir arada depolamak için tercih ettim. Gayet başarılı çalışıyor 🙂

Because I like to create my own spice mixes, and do some Indian cooking, I buy spices in bulk at an Indian/Pakistani store, where they're much cheaper than at the supermarket, then put them in a spice box. That's easy to work from, but takes up space. Add to that that we have a travel trailer, which is short on space, not to mention that every time I open the door after we've been on the move, it can be as if a earthquake had occurred, with things spilled out on the floor (definitely not a good thing to happen with turmeric). Enter this spice shaker, and problem solved. Using a funnel, it's easy to get the spices into the compartments, though I do have to close the top and tap the container on the counter to get them to settle into any air pockets a few times. The top is reasonably easy to manipulate once you get the trick – I couldn't see the symbols on the outside of the cover until my husband pointed them out. You can open it for shaking or pouring, and close it securely when not in use. It just fits into the minuscule space available in the trailer galley, and is also useful to keep beside the stove at home, which is a lot easier than getting my spice box out of the cabinet, finding a place for the lid if the stove is full, taking the inner lid off, and putting it down, then using the little spoon to dole out the spices. I can't get as much of any spice in a compartment as I can in the dishes in my spice box, but I can get considerably more in than I can in the seven day pill box I was using in the trailer.
