I'm so happy I was able to find a package of just plain old bugs for my son's 2nd birthday! So many packages of this type of toy contain either items that are too tiny or other types of figures (like sea creatures or farm animals) and right now all he is interested in are robots and bugs. The bugs themselves are made of a very thick, tough but flexible rubber. The paint does not wear off with play or with simple washing with water and a cloth or paper towel. The legs (especially on items like the millipede) and antennae are pretty tiny but they seem well affixed so I don't think there is any kind of choking hazard if they are played with normally. These are simple and colorful enough they would also make good cake or cupcake toppers, or stocking stuffers. I'm very pleased!Melissa & Doug Sunny Patch Bag of Bugs

I purchased these bugs along with the "Melissa & Doug Giddy Buggy Bug House" for my 15 month old grandson, who was getting bored with his toys and needed something to encourage more interactive play.His Mom, a first grade teacher, thought it might be a fun activity to hide the bugs outside and let him search for them. The first few times they took him out he wasn't sure what to do, but they encouraged him by pointing and saying, "I think I see something in the grass!" That made him really curious, and the fact that these little bugs are brightly colored, sturdy, molded plastic that he can hold comfortably in his little hands makes it an even greater reward. He is so excited to find each one and put them in his little buggy house. And, it is helping him learn his colors, sounding out the first syllable of each.I have purchased a lot of toys for this little guy, and these little critters along with the buggy house are an activity he will actually spend half an hour on outside. He also has a water table that he puts them in to give them a bug bath. Hey, even bugs need to get clean, right? 😂

We love these little (but not too little) bugs! Perfect size and colors for toddler fun. They are not realistic bugs, if that is what you are looking for- but they are fun. They are a good filler for toddler easter eggs and good for matching or sensory bin play.

I bought these based on the brand and wanting something that was fairly unbreakable. They are bright colored which makes them less scary, but one child (age 3) visiting did not want to go in the yard after seeing them. The thing I do not like is that there are 2 each of 5 crawlies instead of 10 different types. We hide them in the yard and even with the bright colors, they are challenging to find. Some pieces could be a choking hazard but our 2.5 year old is fine with them as he no longer mouths items.

Both grandchildren loved this. Especially the almost 4 year old. The 18 month old enjoyed playing with them also. Just need to be careful about the small ones

These are so cute and big enough that my 1 year older can handle them. Its hard to be the older kid and not be able to play with little things because the younger kid can't have them around. But these are fine. I often take the round lady bug out of the 1 year old's mouth, but I think she is safe enough with them. They are really cute and my son often has them ride on his train or tractor trailers. They would be super cute for a sand box.

These bugs are perfect for sensory and pretend play. We incorporated them into a sensory bin along with other items. Good size for his small hands and nice array of bug types.
