These are pretty awesome! They have a high spring tension for retracting the cable+keys, the cable itself is a very thing gauge plastic coated steel cord. These are, by far, the strongest retractable keyring/ID Card units I've had. Most of the retraction units I've had in the past broke within 30 days. These have held up to the abuse I put them through without any problem. I am not afraid that the cable will snap and I'll lose the keys. Unlike every other one I've ever had! The plastic coating on the cable serves to reduce friction as the line gets paid out and when drawn back into the unit as well as weather/waterproofing the cable. The carabiner is well made and won't just come apart under normal use. This retractable keychain is about as perfect as it gets! If you're looking for one and/or an NFC/RFID key card and are on the fence with all the options... Just get this one. You won't be disappointed! I have only two minor suggestions that I would give to the manufacturer. Neither of these affect my rating and don't warrant dropping a star. First, the badge snap strip is affixed in a way you CANNOT remove it. If you want to remove it, it requires that you destroy it in the process. Doing so renders the badge snap strip useless. The only way to POTENTIALLY non-destructively remove it would be to spread the D-Clip apart so that you can remove the badge strip (and the keyring component) from the rest of the unit and then re-assemble it. I believe removing it in this manner would be troublesome and very difficult to do without damaging it. It would be beneficial to have that attached via the keyring part so that it can be removed when using it specifically as a keyring. That or use a smaller ring to attach it to the same little D-Clip the keyring itself is attached to. (See Attached Photo) Second, the carabiner should be a bit larger. It's a good design and well made, but you won't get it to fit with wider belt loops that some pants have and you can't simply remove it and replace it as it's integrated into the plastic body of the unit. It still does exactly what it should, but if the carabiner were made a little larger to fit the fatter belt loops and potentially simply user replaceable, it would make this unit better. The carabiner itself is made of metal. (See Attached Photo) As I said, I don't count either of these two things as flaws, nor do they warrant a lower rating as a result. They are just two things that would be beneficial if the manufacturer were to correct them.

Bought for work badge. Constantly scanning to enter doors all day long, so much better than a lanyard. Strong, durable, retracts great, easy to use, I've gone through 3 different kinds of retractable badge clips in 10 months, I hope this is the last one I buy and im pretty sure it will be

Well made, the steel cable is probably overkill but maybe it counts as a self defense measure in addition to a lanyard holder, thing is practically a piano wire. The internal spring eventually broke after about a year of abuse so I reached out to their customer support via email and they got back to me the next day asking for a picture and order number then promptly sent me replacements, additionally commenting that they'd pass along the "broken spring" feedback to their QA team. Seems like they honestly care about making sure their customers are happy and ther products perform consistently. Overall 10/10 experience with these guys, I bought one of the same unit with an added card protector because I kept sitting on my badge 😂

I bought a pair at the beginning of July. I only needed to support a key badge, so I didnt scratch the surface of the strength of the reel. Its bigger than I expected and looks overkill for just a badge. Otherwise it appeared nicely made and worked OK until now. As of this review, both are dead. They each lasted about the same length of time, with the reel mechanism failing on both. I was hoping for a fluke on the first one, but that doesnt seem to be the case. I attribute the failures to allowing the reel to self retract (which happens quickly with only a badge), and that action somehow damaged the reel. I'm curious to know if they would have lasted longer with more weight on them, say a set of keys, that would dampen the return speed. For the price, Im not heartbroken, but was hoping for more from these. I have moved to the similarly priced Key-Bak, which are USA made. We'll see if they last. EDIT: Bumped to 4 stars. Seller issued a full refund for my troubles. Great customer support. Thank you!

I have had mine for three years and it just finally broke. I work in a place where I have to tap my ID often and also the holder tend to get caught on ropes and stuff. Today it stopped retracting back together. The fact I got 3 years out of one of them is in my opinion mind blowing! I love thats it's a metal cord instead of a frail string. The clip is very sturdy and still clips on like brand new. I will say the "clear" bage fastener (the one with the button) did break after I think a year but I ending putting the circle ring to attach it instead.

Great badge clip. My work badges and holders are a little heavy, and I went quickly through the string retractable clips. This is heavy duty and is more like a cable. Very efficient. Makes my co-workers very jealous!! Would buy this again and again, but, honestly don’t think I’ll need to. Would highly recommend.

I use this to hold my fairly heavy flashlight for work. I’m constantly using it and extending the lanyard out to the max and it continues to work like it’s new. So far, it’s great! We will see how it holds up in this steel manufacturing plant.

The part where the retractable wire goes is a little big for my vest. But otherwise these are incredibly sturdy & are working really well for me so far.

You won't regret buying this. Bought 2 and it looks durable. Cable is made of solid wire that will surely last

Rugged, heavy-duty reel with a nice articulating belt clip Rating: 5 Stars I have used a few different retractable reels over the years for work and outdoor gear, but this MNGARISTA tactical model is easily one of the most robust I’ve handled. It feels built for actual utility rather than just holding a light ID card. The Standout Features: Articulating Belt Clip: This is a fantastic design choice. The clip on the top has enough swivel/articulation to move with you as you sit or bend. This prevents the reel from digging into your side and reduces lateral stress when you pull your keys (or whatever) out at an angle. The Steel Cord: The long cord is reportedly made of stainless steel rather than nylon. It feels "burly" and gives you plenty of reach to hit a scanner or unlock a door without unclipping from your belt. The retraction is strong and handles the task well, it doesn't sag even with a radio attached. Split Ring & Build: The split ring seems high-quality and up to the task. The tactical housing is solid (although plastic) and looks like it can take a few knocks against door frames or equipment without cracking. Pros: Strong Retraction: Holds a significant weight without drooping. Durable Cord: Stainless steel is much more resilient than standard string/nylon. Comfortable Clip: The articulation makes it much more comfortable for daily wear. Great Reach: More than enough for most applications. Cons: None so far; it performs exactly as a heavy-duty tactical reel should. I will update as I use it more. Verdict: If you are tired of cheap badge reels snapping or sagging under the weight of actual keys, or tools, this is a good upgrade. It’s a serious piece of kit for anyone in security, maintenance, or just anyone who wants a "buy-it-once" solution for their everyday carry.

It feels and functions well, but it will take some time of usage to really know. But my first impression is good.

J'utilise ce porte-clés rétractable quotidiennement accroché à mon jean et j'en suis très satisfait. Voici les points forts : L'ensemble dégage une vraie impression de qualité. Le cordon en acier de 80 cm est bien plus rassurant que les modèles en nylon qui cassent au bout de deux jours. Avec une capacité de 226 g, il supporte sans problème un gros trousseau de clés sans pendouiller. Le ressort est puissant. L'attache se fixe très bien à la ceinture ou au passant du pantalon, ça ne bouge pas, même en bougeant beaucoup. C'est devenu indispensable pour ouvrir mes portes rapidement sans avoir à détacher mes clés à chaque fois. Un excellent produit tactique, sobre et vraiment efficace qui va faire partie de mon EDC.
