Size:32" | Color:Raven Hurtta harnesses are suitable for active walks for all dogs, but they are especially recommended for dogs with back and neck problems. When the dog pulls on the leash, the close-fitting harness distributes pressure evenly across the chest, preventing damages to the dog's vertebrae. Thanks to the wide padding and ergonomic design, the harness is comfortable and does not cause wear on the dog's fur or skin. Easy and quick to put on, both dog and owner will get accustomed to the harness in no time. Hurtta harnesses are available in two classic models: the Scandinavian basic harness and the Y-harness that is more common in Europe. Although both harnesses are suitable for all popular dog breeds, the alternative models provide additional choice for optimal fit. Made from durable Neoprene, the harnesses are fitted with efficient 3M reflectors. Thanks to the addition of a fastener, the armpit padding stays in place when the dog is moving, providing protection from the clip buckle.

Solid harness, some sizing issues for weird mutt bodies
We get a lot of use out of this harness, but the sizing is a little tricky. We originally ordered a 32in, because the dog was between sizes and we thought we should size up. Nope. It did fit, but restricted his movement by putting too much pressure on his front shoulders. So we gifted that one (32in) to his buddy (100% lab/housecat, 65lb - he's the red guy in the picture with three dogs, wearing 32in juniper Hurtta harness) and I reordered - this is a testament to the quality of the harness! It is padded everywhere but the belly strap, has a point of connection at the top, and at the bottom (good for trailing leashes at the beach), and you could also use the front ring to clip to. Hardwear seems pretty good, though the black paint on ours is starting to chip after less than a year. On Gordon (our lab-mix, 55lb athletic build), the 28in sits much better, though the belly strap is a little closer to his front legs that I would like, not restrictive like the too-big 32in. Some photos attached for the fit. He also wears a M in most Ruffwear harnesses and coats - the 28in is a tight fit for him. If he was a fat dog, it would be a no-go! We're more or less at the end of the belly strap - less than an inch left - and he's 29.5in girth. I also liked the thickness of the 32in better - maybe 1/4" wider than this one - but ours is holding up pretty well. The white dots are quite reflective, and it seems pretty comfortable, easy to put on, washes well in the machine when someone has a muddy mud fest at the dogpark, so 4stars it is.

Close, But Not Perfect Yet
This harness is almost perfect, but I wish the girth strap was lined with neoprene like the neck loop and the front chest strap are. Also, my dog is a 28" girth and this harness is just a tad too snug on her ribs for my liking when I adjust it to the largest possible size. I wish I could go a size up for her, but I've heard the size 32 inch runs really large so she would be swimming in it. Unfortunately, my dog just happens to be in-between sizes so it's not the ideal fit for her. I'm very picky about what my dogs wear because I want them to have full range of motion. I am hopeful that one day Hurtta will address the gap between the 28" size and the 32" size and add an in-between size.Pros:- Love the neoprene padding. It's soft and squishy. Does not collect dirt or fur.- Very lightweight- Reflectors are very effective. Very bright at night when they hit light.Cons:- Girth strap is just nylon (not lined with neoprene)- No front leash attachment option (the front chest ring rests against the dog's body and would not be ideal for leash attachment)- Size 28 is a little too snug for my dog but Size 32 would be too big.

OK but design makes it hard to really get right fit
OK but design makes it not very adaptable. It is hard to get the right fit and for our dog we really could not so it slips to the sides as you walk - but that works in a way for us and the dog as we mostly use it for hiking.I did review the manufacturer page but measurements are one thing and actual animals another. Mainly, the neck portion does not adjust so it is difficult to get the best fit if your dog doesn't come close enough to those listed neck sizes. The strap that goes around the middle can also easily be connected improperly if you are not careful (one leg must pass through the strap in order to link up right with the padded part under the dog).

It fits in gurth but it is too large in ...
It fits in gurth but it is too large in the neck and chest. My Miniature Pinscher has an 18" gurth and 13" neck (the lowest part of the neck) Also the part where the leash attaches slides down to his side when we walk. It was well made but it needs to be more adjustable and the section that the leash attaches to should not move so much.

... had past experience with the Hurtta harnesses and have loved every one that we've had
We've had past experience with the Hurtta harnesses and have loved every one that we've had. We've got a big girl - 65 boxer mix - who is very thick and stocky. The other ones we tried - Hurtta Padded Harness - didn't quite fit her right. This one, the Padded Y-Harness2 seems to fit her better and should give us more control when walking her. We haven't had a chance to get out with her since we just got it about a week ago but we like it so far. I can add more once we've actually had a chance to try it on her while on leash.

LOVE this harness!
Love this harness! We had one for our 60 lb. dog, and when another dog became part of our family, of course, we bought another. Whenever we go for walks, the dogs wear these great harnesses. The padded front keeps them comfortable, and they tend to pull less. I feel much more in control, so it's safer for us on the streets. I can't say enough about them!

Awesome Harness
Excellent harness. I have an extremely active and strong 20lb terrier that goes on 8-10 mile hikes every weekend. This harness fits well, does NOT rub him anywhere and allows his front legs to move freely without the restrictions some harness have. I have tried many different kinds/makes of harness and this is by far and away the best in my mind.

I have had a similar harness for 2 years. This harness is still in the package. It’s quality is shocking, if I put that on my dog there would be no skin on him within 10 minutes

Fit isn't great.
I love Hurtta products, this one was a beautiful color, but the fit is just a disaster. With the leash, its slides left or right. Maybe it's just not the best harness for my dog's build.
