You can either write or draw or place photos in frames. The prompts are simple and well thought out and age appropriate. I got this for my grand daughter and her mother to share, but now I am getting the "Grandma and child" editions for me to journal with my other grandkids and more of these as gifts. These are perfect for age 5-6 and up, I think, when your child is just beginning to write (not spell) on their own. I highly recommend that this be a safe place for "free writing" not a place for attention on spelling and grammar. She has pages at the beginning for you to set up your process, and I highly recommend you do not skip this part, and then do this journal consistently to reap the communication benefits. Well done!! Bought this for my daughter who can get quite anxious and just wants to be near me. She really likes the fact that we can fill out on whenever, in our own way (different colours, pictures, bits at a time). Great way to spend time together.
