I picked up this Stanley 20oz fiberglass claw hammer for under £10, mainly as a general-purpose hammer for shed and DIY work. At that price, expectations were sensible rather than high, but it’s been a pleasant surprise. Build quality is good for the money. The high-carbon steel head feels solid and well finished, and the fiberglass handle gives it a nice balance without feeling harsh in use. It doesn’t feel flimsy or disposable, which is often the risk at this price point. In use, it does exactly what you want a hammer to do. Driving nails is straightforward, the weight feels well judged for general work, and the curved claw pulls nails cleanly without needing excessive effort. The vibration dampening is noticeable and helps reduce shock through the handle, especially when striking harder surfaces. Grip and comfort are decent. It sits well in the hand and doesn’t feel awkward or slippery, even during longer jobs. Overall, excellent value for money at under £10. A simple, well-balanced hammer that’s suitable for everyday DIY and shed use. Not a specialist tool, but a solid, reliable option that’s hard to fault at this price.
