Happy to give a biodegradable chain oil a go but really didn’t work out well. Oil itself was fine to use but after leaving the saw unused for a few months I found the chain, sprockets etc completely seized which required a lengthy soak in diesel to get everything un seized. The second problem was bizarre and revolting. I decided to give the oil another go but found that something had chewed off the lid from the 5 litre container. I filled the tank anyway and carried on using the saw - the smell was horrific. On closer examination it turned out that at least 4 rats had been attracted to whatever organic material this oil is based on and having chewed the lid off had fallen in and drowned - I’d been working in a fine mist of essence of decomposing rat! Back to using the ordinary oil but despite cleaning the tank thoroughly and refilling the tank several times still get the odd whiff of dead rat - probably my imagination but urggggh!
