Ritual: An Essential Grimoire

Ritual is full of simple rituals you can perform for specific purposes. It is a perfect reminder and model of how we can add magick to our everyday tasks. For the seasoned practitioner, it’s great for adding on to your daily rites. For a beginner, it’s an excellent description of how to learn how to raise and manipulate energy, simple enough to begin applying. Everyone can benefit from this simple yet profound read! It comes in a high quality red cover material, love how it looks!

This is a well written book and an enjoyable, if quick read. However that being said, it's not what I was expecting. It is variations on basic visualizations and meditations most of which consist of visualizing different colors of light (mostly golden) and breathing in light. The Damien Echols goes into far more depth with many of these in his YouTube videos; I do wish the book had gone into more explanations for the why's and how's of some of it.I knew it was going to be about everyday rituals a magician can incorporate into their daily life, I just wasn't expecting it to be so 101. This would be a great book for someone who is just starting out and/or someone who wants quick mediation exercises on the go. It's like a pocket grimoire! There are exercises dealing with anxiety and fear, a plethora of shielding, centering, and grounding exercises. Briefly touches on talismans and how to create them. There's a ritual for creating a private conversation space in public using a rune which is ingenious as well as the invisibility shield. There's many life observations peppered in there, but no filler which is good. The authors writing styles are very down to earth and easy to understand.Now the book quality itself, it's hard bound with fantastic paper quality. A bit smaller than I thought it was going to be, but therefore perfect for toting around in a bag on the go. The dust cover is tiny so I just removed it so it wouldn't get banged up or ripped and popped the book in a ziplock back. Perfect travel book that can fit in your backpack or purse.Do I regret purchasing this book? Not at all, I am a fan of the authors and happy to support them. I did overall enjoy the book. I just wish I had had a better idea of what it was when I bought it, hence my review. It's light reading, in the sense most of the rituals consist of working with etheric energy via visualization and in that it's a very magic 101 kind of book. That's not a bad thing however because as far as 101 books go, this would have to be one of the best out there and I highly recommend it. 10/10.

Love how they make high magick accessible and practical for every day while keeping the essence of the teaching being spiritual evolution at the core at all times. Can’t wait to put it all into practice and saturate my life with magic as I do my great work.

This book is aesthetically beautiful inside and out and may be even more beautiful written.Much like Damien’s other books, sigils, talismans, and ciphers are used throughout. However this one also has drawings of Damien and Lorri demonstrating stances, positions, mudras, etc, and the artist even took the time to recreate his tattoos.Lorri and Damien trade off various practical rituals to guide us through daily life, and each ritual has a D or an L to demonstrate who is giving us this particular practice. Damien and Lorri present these practices in tandem with their personal stories of how and why they use them, and the openness and honesty provides that much more.If you have an interest in magick or just in meditative practices, I highly recommend this book.I also recommend getting both the physical book and the audio book so you can see the drawings and hold it in your hands but also so you can hear Damien and Lorri read their words. They both have very soothing voices, and hearing the words straight from them add that much more.

I got my pre-order and devoured this book quickly. It's very straight forward and easy to grasp (especially for those of us that have read Crowley, Agrippa or Levi, this is a Breeze!). It's mostly Meditative exercises, breathing/visualizations, that you can use in any everyday circumstances. No big elaborate Rituals. No long oration or conjurations in Latin, Greek, Hebrew or Enochian. Just straight up practical Energy building exercises. A little TOO simple for my tastes, but great for beginners, as I think this was aimed at. I still enjoyed the book and the Red Cover and Sigil looks beautiful on my bookcase.

Just to be upfront this book talks about rituals in the sense of how brushing your teeth is a ritual. What a lot of people probably think when they see the word is complex ceremonial magick. What this book offers is essentially a guide on mindfulness, visualization, and energy manipulation. These are all extremely important for magick and often books on the subject barely discuss the topic. Considering the author used these rituals in prison it only makes sense that for the most part tools aren’t used. It’s practical and effective magick that can mostly be done with your body and mind which, at least to me, is much more helpful and useful than a book of spells with instructions calling for tools which are often expensive

So many people avoid ritual, avoid working with and within the energies that swirl around us constantly, because the idea of ‘ritual’ seems overwhelming, full of details and formality. Magic is all around us at all times, and in this book the authors teach invaluable techniques on aligning with and utilizing that magic to change our lives. Our breath, our mind, the daily habit of certain words and actions – THOSE are ritual. What may seem like bare basic daily actions become our most sacred and powerful rituals. Written with the ease and flow of a conversation with a good – and wise – friend, this book is a perfectly approachable text that will be highly impactful and transformative for its reader.
