Enthralling novel on physicists and mathematicians
This is an enthralling fact based fiction on the lives and theories of great physicists and mathematicians. It is not a chronological account, the author takes you back and forth. It is very interestingly written, difficult to put down. A non-science reader will miss some technical aspects but still enjoy the agonies and ecstasies;the madness; the struggle and triumphs of the scientists. At times the author gets a bit carried away with his fiction. Do read if you like these types of subjects.

This book establishes that the euphoria and agony are opposite sides of the same coin.
I consider myself a connoisseur of non fiction since fiction/fantasy seems to leave me asking for more., whenever I have tried fiction it has left me with an inescapable void. And I tend to fill them up with the memoirs, biographies and documentaries. However, Labatut has invented a totally new genre with this book, this is an amazing amalgamation of everything I have liked about writing. He has picked up some of the most fascinating characters from the world of science.Labatut probably is the missing link I have found while watching Oppenheimer, the writing is so riveting that I could not keep my eyes off this book during the reading of 2 days. The visualisations of each of the character, their circumstances and the periods of agony before they could deliver their lifetime work is absolutely vivid. The madness of some of the most sought after minds of the 20th century is a window into the souls of those few who just couldn't accept the world as it is, and with their quest left us with so many questions answered while providing their successors an even elaborate universe to explore.Benjamin has a knack of weaving the stories like no one else, Dan Brown would come close but that was for another era and time. He has taken holocaust as the vantage point for the book, and took us along to the journey till the early 21st century.Totally floored to find such writings, and craving for more. The Maniac is next :)

Sifting through hellish mess called life
I have rarely come across such intense writing style like this one. It often got me absorbed in thoughts. I would have to gather myself after every chapter(or the story of each individual discussed) in the book. Amazing! Thank you! 🙏

Highly entertaining
Enjoyed this. A fictionalized romp through the eccentricities of genius; it's often weird and beautiful, but you have the sense that it's true inspiration lies in convincing you that it's never quite as weird as the truths these minds pursue.

Not what I expected
It’s a collection of biographies of scientists. I was expecting a philosophical book.

Fictional telling of great scientific discoveries
The book is divided into 5 chapters. The first two chapters, Prussian Blue and Schwarzschild's Singularity, are amazingly good and fast reads. A lot of information unknown to me is given in these chapters. The rest of the book has a slower tempo. The author gives a fictional account of the mental and physical state of scientists on the verge of great discoveries. The book certainly does not fit in any category of any book that I have read. I would recommend the book for a curious reader.

A great book
The book doesn't need an introduction. The author has done a great deal of artistry in putting, in words the lives' works of some of the dynamic changing personalities.
