Bought for my ‘all things outdoors’ loving 12 year old. Excellent quality, simple to use, gives a great spark and lights my son’s camp stove first time, every time. Love the rustic look and feel to this. Wooden handle is branded nicely and the carry pouch keeps it all safe and protected. Best item ever!! I want one myself. (Grandma wasn’t so impressed when said child gave repeated “spark” demonstrations all round her house on boxing day!! 🤣🤣🥳)

This is perfect if you need children to be able to use it reliably. The ferro rod is suitably soft so you get reliable stream of sparks. While the striker may look like every other product out there, there's a slight burr on the edge which makes an enormous difference to being able to get a good shower of sparks. With a large handle, this is really easy to grip and keep a firm hold, something that makes smaller equivalents very hard for children to use reliably.

Good quality and fair price but using the striker on the wood takes too long, I just used some tissue paper.

Why did you choose this product over others?: Works perfectly, but could do with a handle/padding on the striker too

Ferro rod works just fine with the supplied striker after scraping off the black sealant that covers the rod; you just need maybe a 1/4 inch wide section of the rod to get sparks. Be careful as scraping off the sealant as it can generate sparks. The supplied wood starter works, but using the striker results in small shavings that go everywhere, so those need to be collected and piled up, and you need a good pile, like 2x2x2cm (3/4x3/4x3/4 inch) to get it to ignite. I think using a knife to peel off thin sections would be better (I have several different fire starting tools). I purchased some Ferro Rod Companion (Fatwood) as a supplemental starter. Striker and rod are sturdy. Rod, striker and wood starter are held by a cord that is long enough to use each part easily, and comes with a nice storage bag.

Ich habe eine Nachlieferung erhalten das Produkt ist sehr wertig und lässt sich dadurch auch schnell anzünden auch das Anzünden Material ist in einem anderen Zustand als ich ihn mit der ersten Lieferung erhalten habe. Jetzt ist alles gut es scheint auch Montags Ware darunter zu geben.Wofür XL steht kann sicherlich jeder selber heraus finden . mit normal großen Händen also eher normal bis klein der Feuerstahl . Das hochwertige Ferro - ist alt und vertrocknet : Nach dem Abschaben kaum eine Möglichkeit dieses zu entflammen . Grundsaetzlich eine einfache Qualität die hier sehr teuer verkauft wird .
