First: it's not $499 Second: 7 unique LED band waves of light, 400nm,420nm,440nm,460nm,480nm,10k-13k and a rare pink shade. Thats 3 different shades of blue,1 very bright Cool white shade, 1 purple shade and that red/pink one. These are important if you wanna grow coral or anemones. They love these shades of blue, it's like cr*ck to a cr*ckhead. Third: this is a very high quality light. I've been through several fixtures the cords always degrade, button starts faulting, LEDS start malfunctioning..Not this beast. My last one just started shorting out one day shooting sparks, Luckily I was home. So believe me when I say this quality is TOP of the line. Lastly: the LEDs in this fixture have been custom made to create and simulate lifelike real-world colors.. This is hard to find unless you buy a kessil or similar. Fluval have always been pretty high quality honestly. Last bit of advice to the people just starting and wondering if this is what you want. Yes. This is it. This fixture every shade of color to be successful. The more spectrums of light you can create the better your creatures grow and reproduce. The brightness is decent at 25k that's more than capable to support reef life. (soft coral and anemones) now I've not tried growing hard coral in this light, but my tank is only 18" deep and it seems more than capable. I thought it was kinda expensive for a light, I only have a smaller tank. But now I wouldn't send it back for love nor money. Trust me try this light before you go spend $699 on a new ridiculously expensive light that does the exact same thing with poorer construction. I paid about $150 for the 18"-24" model Fluval Sea Marine 3.0. If you've got a Fluval sea 13.5gal nano tank you'll be happy this light fits perfectly over the opening left in the stock lid. Dont put it on the inside lip of opening. It may fall in and kill everything even though it's IP67 water proof, don't take the chance. The front extension should rest in the little feeding access hole in front of lid. The rear extension rest securely between the top lid and the filtration lid. Just in that little crack there.

The app is actually fantastic, with a slight modification I was able to fit it right into the fluval 13.5 factory canopy without it being out of level. You want to run the cyan, purple, and blue at 100% and drop the cool White down to around 60 to 65% and the red anywhere between 20 to 25%. It's a little difficult getting used to this new light over the factory light just because how bright in white the factory lighting is. You can crank the white up to 100% but you'll soon find out you'll start getting algae blooms. If you want more intensity checkout 21 LED USA all one word and look for the 12-in 453nm light bar and purchase the controller and crank it up and you have a very bright blue tank that will make all the coral colors just pop. Some people say that the light will fit in between the hood and the three chamber cover, it's does not! Use a jigsaw and trim just a little bit off of the extension hanger so that it sits flush in the light canopy, the other end you can place into the feeding hole of the hood and if you really want to make it not move around whatsoever cut a couple small pieces of silicone airline tubing and then cut it so you were able to wrap it around the extenders and then just lower it down and slide the adjustment in and you're all set. Makes it look professional and not a hack job like you see in some of the other photos that are uploaded.

Excellent light for my 15 gallon nano tank. The different colors and intensity level features are awesome and the app is great; however if you live in a city make sure you put a password on it. Ive been able to keep 1 Hammer coral, 1 Leptoseris, 1 Favia, 1 Trumpet coral, 1 Galaxea, as well as 1 Yellow Watchmen Goby, 1 Small Clown, and 1 Firefish. My tank is fairly well established and has amazing filtration otherwise i wouldn't recommend this much inside a 15 gallon but good luck with your tank. This light is great just buy it and learn about the corals before you buy them.
