Good value drive
I hope that the 2.5 sata format size drive type doesn't go away for a while. It's so simple-- if you have SATA it'll probably work. Yes of course this drive is fast enough. Sure nvme storage is faster much of the time but who really cares at this point? I didn't truly even need this drive I just wanted something I could run programs from other than the primary c drive. So far this drive has given me no issues.

Big Improvement
Purchased this to upgrade a slow laptop. Definitely made a huge improvement over the old "spiny" disk. Install was simple and it continues to perform as expected. Would recommend.

All The Boxes Are Checked For A Value Replacement Drive
I have been repairing computers for close to fifteen years, and nothing makes more of a performance difference than replacing an old, worn out spinning hard drive with a nice, modern SSD. For years, SSD upgrades have been an easy moneymaker for me - and it's easy. With that being said, the window of opportunity for upgrading machines with SATA drives is getting closer to the end every day. Machines that are over 5 years old may have came with hard drives, but an overwhelming majority of them also have an NVMe slot, which is a much faster and more modern storage technology that is in almost all cases preferred to SATA. For this reason, the importance of having a SATA based solid state drive that meets a few criteria is paramount. What I look for in a SATA SSD: 1. What brand is the drive? Can I offer this to my customers and get name recognition from what's on the box? The answer here is YES, most people know Acer as a computer brand. Reading other reviews, it looks as if Acer or at least the seller is receptive to resolving issues, so this is pretty much covered. 2. Does the drive look, feel, and perform well enough to be considered a quality product? Again, YES, the drive comes packaged in a professional looking box. The SSD itself is housed in a metal enclosure, and a set of mounting screws is included. Performance numbers in other reviews tell me what I already know - it's going to smoke a hard drive, and get reasonably close to the maximum speeds allowed by SATA connectivity. 3. Do I have enough headroom with this product to make a reasonable amount of markup without completely hosing the customer? YES, it does. The 240GB model, which will work for the overwhelming majority of people out there looking to get a few more years out of a ten year old computer, is just under $18 at the time of writing. Hardcore performance numbers when compared to flagship SATA drives from Samsung and Crucial don't matter to me, because the thin performance gains they provide are not going to be realized in the computer that this drive is going in. People who are interested in "freshening up" an older computer are ALWAYS value oriented. Overall, this drive is a "strong recommend" from me for those that can use it, and I'll report back if there are any issues over time.

Bought two, One Died in 6 Months. Good Support Saves Product
Update 10-6-22: I received the SSD replacement today ending my saga. It seems to be working fine. If I can survive a year with the remaining hard drives without them too dying then I will bump my review way up. Support is not bad, just make sure you keep in touch and don't expect it to be solved without your input. Update 10-5-22: I received a call from support today, and a confirmation email, that the replacement drive has been shipped. Update 10-4-22: About a month later and I have yet to hear anything back, I reached out to support again and they were able to locate my return request but did not seem to know what to do with it, seemed to imply that the address I shipped it to was my address even though it was theirs. Nice people on support, however does not help when the service itself is below average. Will update with more as it goes along. Update 9-11-22: About a week later and I have yet to hear anything back about a replacement. The live chat went through and the item was shipped out a day or so later. Will update as more progress is made on the replacement as especially with electronics the warranty is as important as the product. Update 8-30-22: I am currently in contact with Acer support in an attempt to get the replacement via their warranty. I will update this further on the process. I can give a drive or two failing a pass, especially if the replacements are fine, if the warranty is good. So far contacting via Email is an impossible task so best recommended to do live chat when they are open. OG Review: I purchased two of these in February 2022. One was the 240 GB model and the other one was the 480 GB model. Both of them worked well out of the box. They are fast, as expected, and were basically the space that was advertised. I was very pleased for a while. The 480 GB was used exclusively for music sample packs. The only time any data was written to the drive was when I initially got it and put the samples onto the drive. For the next 6 months it was exclusively being read and not written to. The 240 GB one was used for video games. Sometime in early August, about 6ish months later, the 480 GB drive died. When it died, it was almost unnoticeable until I no longer could access the drive. It seemed to die piece by piece with more and more files being unrecognized before finally Windows couldn't access the drive. While the 240 GB one is still going strong, I can not say I recommend to get an Acer branded SSD. Regardless if I have a 50% success rate, having a drive die is critical, especially if I used it for anything other then some music samples. Avoid this. There are plenty of others around this price point which are more reliable.

They Deleted My Review: These Drives Are Little More Than Plastic. 3 out of 3 Failures.
So. I usually am not a toxic reviewer but HOLY- Three out of three of these drives for me all failed within a year since when I bought them in January. 2 I bought for myself, 1 I sent out to a friend as a birthday gift. Also I'm writing this again because SOMEHOW my review disappeared. One failed for me first 2 months after. One failed for my friend within 7. And now recently this week, 8 months after, the third has failed- ALL with the same symptoms. The drives work perfectly fine, but the moment you start loading them up with files, it gets slower. Eventually it may even slow down your entire PC making you think you have a different issue, even BLUE SCREENED MY PC because it caused errors within File Explorer. Windows doesnt know what to do with it, and eventually it will quit altogether and say any files you click within the drive aren't accessible. It becomes bricked, the files say theyre there but doing anything with them freezes and slows down your PC's file explorer OR it outright says you cant access them. Any attempts to search up the Product Numbers on Acer's site result in them saying the P/N doesnt exist. No support whatsoever for you for amazon anymore, either, because it's months apart for you. Too bad. A 2 TB drive for $80-90~ sounds like a steal BUT I am telling you my personal experience with THREE of these drives. Spend $20-30 more and get a reliable WD or Samsung than one of these.
