Possible to dissolve in water - see suggestions
UPDATE One Month Later - change of heart... I wrote a pretty negative review of the new GE formula powder a month ago. I gave it two stars based on the first container I bought of the new improved formula after many years of consuming quite a lot of the previous version. I really didn't like it at all. Gatorade reached out to me as a result of the review which is always appreciated of a manufacturer, however I have not responded to them yet so this update has not been influenced by them. I have now used five 32oz containers of the new GE formula powder in both Orange and Lime flavor, we have bought some from Amazon here and some directly from Gatorade. My update is as follows: (1) The color is certainly a lot lighter than the previous version. It is a white powder in the container but when mixed it does have a faint orange (or lime) color to it. Not a major observation but an update all the same. (2) The flavor is a lot more subtle for sure but does grow on you so give it some time. I would acknowledge now that it is possible to get used to the flavor and once used to it, is actually very difficult to go back to the old formula which suddenly tastes strongly artificial and overpowering. I have been using the new formula on back-to-back 120mile rides on successive weekend days and find is is a lot more palatable to consumer GE throughout without resorting to alternating with water to offset the strong taste. (3) Ah, the mixing in water thing. Quite a few other reviews since I wrote that a month ago have also commented on the fact that this new product seems to clump up and not dissolve properly. That was certainly my initial experience. Now I would say that if you put the scoops of powder in your mixing bottle bottle, lightly swirl the bottle as you fill it from the faucet, then once filled cap it and shake it vigorously for a few seconds, it appears to dissolve well enough. I think it is possible that my first container (or two) of new formula GE had an issue because I can assure you it clumped like crazy and would not dissolve at all. The later containers have dissolved better. So, I am revising my 2 star review to a 4 star review with an acknowledgement that the new formula, now that the clumping appears to be fixed, is a nice extension of the GE range. I will add one new observation which has become very apparent. The new formula is clearly a powder and not a granulated product like the old one. This means (a) there is a degree of powder that gets into the air as you fill the bottles and (b) each scoop potentially contains a higher weight of formula than the previous version since a powder by volume will weigh more than granules. I say this because we have seen our consumption of new GE increase significantly since the new formula has been introduced. This cannot be because we are consuming more (we know that for a fact) so can only be that we are getting less bottles of diluted GE than previously because more weight of powder goes into every scoop. Hope this update has been useful, original and unedited review below. We consume probably 4-6 containers of Gatorade every Tri season for IM training rides. I have got used to the 'classic' and unmistakable flavor of the Orange and the Lime powder mixed Endurance Formulas. The new formula that is listed here and launched recently (?) has three key differences (aside from any composition differences): (1) It does not have an orange or lime color to it any more. The powder is white, regardless of flavor (haven't tried cherry). So OK, I get that this is completely synthetic and the colorant is probably unnecessary but at least when I mix orange gatorade in my bike bottles it at least looks like orange. Not a huge issue on its own so lets move to the next point: (2) It tastes very dull and not pleasant to consume in quantity. I cannot describe it any other way. It tastes like the drink you are given to mix and drink a gallon of when you need to have a colon medical exam or similar. OK so you can drink it down but it doesn't have a pleasant flavor at all. When you are doing century training rides at some point you are going to get sick of whatever flavor drink/gels/bars you are putting into your system, but at least they can taste reasonably good for the first few hours. This new formula tastes pretty awful from the first mouthful. (3) - and this is the worst issue by far - it doesn't mix easily in water. Yes, I'll repeat that as it was a huge surprise to us too. This new formula seems to have difficulty dissolving in water. So when you mix your bottles and head out on your training ride, at some point you are going to get a mouth full of lumps of undissolved powder. Which, taking into consideration point (2) above, tastes bad anyway. Its not an enjoyable experience at all. The only solution we have found is to keep shaking it like crazy when you mix it, like 10X more effort than with the old formula. And then, later as you drink the bottle down, keep shaking it even more and hope you don't get a mouthful of a powder lump. I am sure there is a good reason for the change and the marketing will never use terminology such as 'lower production cost' or 'easier to manufacture' but this user (and his wife) have gone from being huge fans of Gatorade Endurance Formula powder to being completely switched off by it. To finish more positively, the premixed bottles of GE at Ironman events continue to be awesome and have not had these changes applied.

An average product, on the lower calorie, moderate carb side of sports drinks..
I added the Orange and later, Lemon-Lime flavors of this product to my repertoire of hydrating sports drinks, pre- and post-running. Historically, I have never been a fan of Gatorade products because the original had a heavy sugar/high-carb content, notorious for "sugar crashes". Here, after using for about 10 sessions of running (1 1/2 scoops/12 oz.), I feel that it's a solid competitor, but only average in a sea of competing, hydrating sports drink formulas. The flavors are muted and could use a "Tangy" in there before the "Orange". I compare this experience with its competitors such as (formerly) Cytomax and Accelerade. For me, a sports drink is not just something consumed casually - it's a conscentious decision taken in the interest of personal performance/recovery. Also noted here is that the calorie content is also lower, e.g. 90 calories for 1 1/2 scoops, compared to peers. Here, I would take a more pronounced flavor/slightly higher calorie if it improved the endurance experience. Overall, it's a decent product but wouldn't be my first choice.

Endurance equals extra sodium and potassium.
I think this works better than the regular Gatorade powder... For some reason it mixes better, but that could just be that after several tubs of powder I've perfected my Gatorade mixing game. Some things to note about the Gatorade endurance formula: the orange flavor is slightly different than normal orange Gatorade; it tastes more like orange sherbet than just regular orange. This is different than normal Gatorade in that it has more sodium and potassium. If you're not trying to rehab after intense exercise or rehydrate for some other reason you probably do not want the extra sodium and should stick with the regular formula. If you're an endurance athlete or have POTS (you'll know what it is if you have it) or another form of dysautonomia this is a good Gatorade alternative since you get more sodium for the sugar and calories. I exercise and have POTS, so I'm always, always, always looking for ways to pack in as much sodium as humanly possible. Most people (Americans especially) don't actually need extra sodium, so just be aware that that's the endurance part (that and the potassium, which helps prevent muscle fatigue and cramping). So bonuses: Extra sodium and potassium-- good for very specific and weird medical problems and endurance athletes (like anything very intense and/or over 90 minutes, not a 20 minute walk on the treadmill); orange tastes like orange sherbet Potential negatives: Lots of sodium, orange tastes like orange sherbet

Taste grew on me
I run, a lot and stupid long distances, up to 100+ miles at a time. So hydration and fueling are something I do a lot. My usual goto's have jacked up their prices recently and while not a fan of gatorade in general as a ultra running product I thought I'd try this one. Tl/DR; The taste is orange but has a bite to it, a bit of bitterness much like an orange peel has. I didn't care for it at first but it's grown on me. This won't replace my fuels of choice on race day's due to limited electrolytes it has compared to some but on my daily runs, usually less than 25 miles I find myself alternating this with other brands and plain water. As other's mentioned it's extremely 'light weight' so you get a cloud of particles when you pour it into your bottle. It also doesn't mix as well as more traditional ultrarunning fuels but by the time I need into a run it's mixed up from the running.
