Easy to Use, Professional Quality, Great Value!
I was looking for a compact, clean, solid-built USB audio interface to use with my laptop when I wasn’t in my studio. I’ll admit that I was a little skeptical deciding to purchase the Donner Livejack Lite. Let’s face it, the name isn’t the first one you think of when you’re looking for a USB audio interface. You hear about Focusrite, PreSonus, M-Audio, Behringer, and others but Donner? I was wrong. The Livejack Lite provides 2 channels of professional quality audio and its metal case makes it look and feel solid and road worthy.Setup was almost plug-and-play simple. With a Windows-based PC you’ll need to first download the Donner Livejack ASIO USB Audio Drive to get started which was a simple process. Plug in the USB cable into the interface and your PC to complete the installation process and you’re ready. Easy. I opened Pro Tools on my laptop and the interface was listed in the Hardware Setup. I clicked on “Donner USB Audio Device” and started recording. No issues at all. I made several vocal audio and keyboard tracks and they all sounded very clean. The 24-bit/192 kHz converters provided plenty of headroom to get a crisp and uncolored track. The interface also has a 48v selector switch to accommodate microphones that require phantom power and the pre-amp sounded clear.A nice feature of the interface is that it lets you directly monitor input audio which helps to hear what you’re playing in real-time with no perceivable lag time. The unit is also conveniently USB powered, so no extra cords to carry or wall warts to step on. The TRS balanced output also enabled a quiet, ground loop hum-free recording. The Donner Livejack Lite would be perfect for a singer songwriter who wants a quick way to capture their performances or record their demos. If you just wanted to record a stereo mix of a live performance, you could also easily take a 2 track mix from the mixer and record it. I’d prefer if it had volume meters to see actual input levels for each channel but that would surely increase the price and ultimately, it’s really not an issue because you can see the input levels in your DAW. There is an LED indicator to show when the channel is receiving input. The interface is built tough, sounds great and is very affordable…and those are three very good reasons to purchase one!

Interfacing with my kids
We are using this interface with BIAS FX 2. It works quite well and we have had no issues. We had 2 guitars plugged in for 3 hours of play. Of course we paused and adjusted sound and effects. The unit did get warm from processing. Not hot or concerning but enough to know it was working hard. As a new Donner product my hope is I'm getting a deal on the front end of a mid line product. I am also saving money by investing in digital pedals (interface and program) as opposed to pedals. This gives us a chance to learn and understand pedals at a cost of course but less than it could be. As a middle age mom it's an uphill learning curve to keep up with my young adult kids. It would be nice if it came with a DAW but from the reviews I've read of other brands it sounds like that isn't always a bonus and can in fact be a rip off. We are using our family computer, a DELL, that is about 6 years old. There is latency but my son doesn't find it to be a problem as he is playing with sound effects. It's more playing fast cord changes that it all gets stacked in the program itself and he'll have to learn to navigate. The direct monitoring has no latency. More and more learning curve for this old mom but seeing his face today and his interest (5 hours total of play) it was worth it. I can't attest the the clarity of the interface sound as we are using an effect program where the whole point seems to be vintage amping, distorting and reverb... Some day I'll get an acoustic/electric guitar and a DAW and really test the interface in new ways. I'm looking forward to it. It has been a good purchase and a good interface in our growing hobby (we counted today we have 10 guitars in house) and now a way to expand even more. Now, being a new product, the question will be how well does it hold up over time...

Excellent general purpose audio interface
This is an high-quality general purpose USB audio interface with decent mic preamps, and phantom power for condenser microphones. The high bit-depth and sample rate captures every detail. Works great for narration and voice-over work when paired with a good mic and recording environment. One caveat: Though it looks like a USB-C connector and it says USB-C, it actually only appears to support USB-A; a USB-C to USB-C cable will not work. If you have USB-C ports on your computer, use a USB-C to USB-A adapter with a USB-A to USB-C cable (like the one supplied with the unit). Hard to go wrong with this interface for small/entry-level setups.

Great singer / songwriter audio interface that is easy to setup.
The media could not be loaded. Really happy with this purchase and Donner’s entry into this space. Perfect simple setup for a singer / songwriter or anyone that wants to easily record microphones or guitar / bass.On my Windows 10 computer the audio interface was immediately recognized and downloading and installing Donner’s ASIO driver was also simple. I’ve used another audio interface before that caused me a lot of hassle to get the driver working with my computer and laptop. Having all the connection through a modern usb-c interface is also very helpful.Build quality feels great. It’s metal on the outside, but the whole unit has some weight and density to it that makes it feel more robust and it doesn’t move around on my desk easily. The knobs also feel sturdy and have the right amount of resistance. No issues getting this setup with recording software either. In my review video I used Audacity, but I’ve also tested with Reaper and BandLab’s Cakewalk. Everything picked up the LiveJack Lite as an input and output as expected.Audio quality on the recordings and the direct monitoring to my headphones was fantastic. No latency that I could tell from the direct monitoring option. These are definitely worth a look if you’re in the market for a 2in/2out audio interface and I feel a better buy than some of the more expensive options.
