Parker Large Alum Block with Travel Case (125 g./4.4 oz.) - A Natural Aftersh...

I purchased this Parker Alum Block after watching some YouTube videos that spoke of this product highly, and I was also attacked to the size of this Alum Block. My Alum Black arrived in August 7th this week, and I was pleased when unboxing it, seeing the nice size. However, when I removed the Alum Block from the plastic case, it was quite clear that this Alum Block is made from compressed Alum crystals, and is NOT a solid Alum Block, which means like all others made with this process, it will soon begin to crumble. Also, within the compressed block of Alum Crystals, and large and jagged Alum Crystals, which could prove to be a problem as the black wears down, could it to be uncomfortable? When I buy a Parker product, I expect a high quality item. Needless to say, I’m very disappointed in this particular Parker product. Update: While it is true this Alum Block is made from compressed Alum Crystals, and not a solid block of Alum, to my surprise it did not fall apart and crumble as other Alum Blocks made using this process. It has held together just fine, has become glass smooth and it work perfectly fine. I have updated this review, increased my rating to 5 stars, and after extensive use and great satisfaction with the Alum Block… I most certainly recommend it!

I have sensitive skin and get cuts easy, since I started using this, the cuts heal very quickly and also help with the redness, worth it!

A great price here, for a solid block of alum in a somewhat flimsy case. My only complaint would be the case is not durable for travel use, but is sufficient for bathroom use. At the end of my double edge razor shaving, I rinse off of the soap with a washcloth, wet this block and spread it all over my face, let it dry for 30+ seconds while I put the razor and stuff away, then rinse with cold water. Game changer on calming down the face in general and from any weepers or scuffs. Of course if you really messed up, then it is time to pick up the styptic pencil.

its good amount for the buck, but price went up. Also the product isnt chipped straight from the rock, you can tell it was processed, mine just fell aparted and the inside is very rocky and bumpy like it was pressed together with a machine and not so well. could be made a bit better as to not fall apart, its my second one and both did this. I'm trying another brand.

After wet shaving it is important to use an alum block as it seals in the pores and it works as an antiseptic. It comes in a travel case. You simply wet the block, glide it along the face after you’ve used a moisturizer and let it work. It’s soothing to the skin and it feels amazing. Highly recommend it.

I'm new to wet shaving and have opted to learn the straight razor (shavette actually). I'm over 50 and have used electric razors and cartridge razors all my life so there is a fairly large learning curve that I am having to overcome. That said, I purchased this Alum Block knowing that I was going to need it. Boy was I right! If you are new to this type of shaving you will make mistakes that result in bloodshed. So far this block has GREATLY reduced the amount of bleeding that I have experienced. Despite what some have said about Alum, the stinging is only slight and certainly not worth complaining about. When I finish shaving, I simply wet my entire face and rub this block over everything (whether there are cuts or not... though usually there are a couple). This block helps to reduce razor burn, keeps my skin feeling tight, acts as an antiseptic, and as I said, helps to stop minor bleeding. For me, I won't be without it. It's as important as shaving soap! That said, I don't keep it in the case that it came in. I suppose that case may come in handy when traveling; instead, I keep it in an elevated clean/dry soap dish. This helps to ensure that the bar drys completely between uses.

Idk if it's supposed to but this thing made my skin sting and kind of numb. I have sensitive skin so if you do too I'd probably avoid this. No fault of the manufacturer obviously.

Essential parts of my shaving routine. After shaving I rub the block over my face and leave for about 30 seconds to a minute before washing off with cold water. It’s drastically reduced my shaving rash and ingrowing hairs.

Great addition to my shaving routine. I use a safety razor and had heard about people using a bar like this after a shave. I had a stick for cuts and nicks nut decided to try this bar. It takes care of any nicks and cuts and gets your skin ready for your moisturizer. Just remember to rinse your face after you use the bar. This bar will last a long time. I run it under cold water and run it over my wet face. Weight about 30 seconds and rinse with cold water. I just dry it off with my towel and put it back in the case.
