Spinning 101: Step by Step from Fleece to Yarn with Wheel or Spindle

Very well written with excellent pictures. Helped me feel confident enough to buy my first spinning wheel.

I live in South Mississippi, and while I have everything I need to make yarn (roving, spindles, and spinning wheel, I don’t have a teacher. There are no stores or groups near me to ask for advice. This book is easy to read, and the instructions and pictures make make me feel like I really can do this.

This small treasure of the art of spinning should be a must for every spinner, either new to the process or accomplished. The instructions are clear and easy to grasp. Tom Knisely's approach to the steps needed makes the reader immediately have a grasp of the skills. It's a recommended read and a perfect addition to a fiber artist's studio.

I have to admit that I'm biased. Tom taught me to spin in person over 40 years ago. (Thanks Tom!) I was thrilled to learn that he was finally creating a spinning book, after so many outstanding weaving books. The descriptions of the preparation and spinning processes are very clear and easy to understand (and my novice daughter agrees). The photographs are beautiful and well-aimed. If you want to learn to spin and don't have access to a class, this is the book for you.

This was a nice book for beginners like me and my children who are wanting to learn more about spinning. We recently purchased a drop spindle, so we are hoping to try our hand at it! Four of the pages were printed upside down, but it was not too big of a deal. haha.

This shows the basics knowledge of spinning. It’s a good book to start with but I think that there is so much more to know than what it entails.

I bought this book to inspire my spinning workshop pupils. It is well written and illustrated, taking the learner through every stage of producing a useable product. Equally suited to both beginners and the more experienced spinner who may wish to hone their skills, the book can be either used on a "start to finish" basis; or can be dipped into to refine existing spinning skills.
