Is it compatible with 503?

Fewer moving parts extends service life. 1ATR2 is designed to replace any previous generation of Flushmate series, including 500, 501, 501-A, and 501-B (except American Standard fixtures). 2VRN8 is designed to replace series 500, 501, 501A, and 501B in American Standard tank number 4086. Include tank-to-bowl gasket. Flush cartridge, upper supply, and lower supply are replacement parts for all Flushmate systems. This upper supply may sit higher than the upper supply used on the 200, 500, and 501-A series. However, if the porcelain tank lid is resting on the upper supply, it may need to be shimmed up on the opposite side to level it out. Another option is to get a new Flushmate system. Flushmate vessels and components do not retrofit into gravity type toilets. They are only used with Flushmate-equipped toilets.

Does this replace the brass fitting that came on original Flushmate 504?

The fitting I replaced was plastic. However, it didn’t stop the running. There is a small filter in the water inlet that you should remove to increase the pressure. Those flush mate systems also have a recall so you may want to call them before getting too far off into the weeds.
