We had a plastic serrated knife, but not a bread knife, from a box store for decades and loved it. Something broke and the handle would swivel for the last several years. We looked for years and couldn't find a suitable replacement until I bought this. The teeth have multiple shapes and this seems to be a cross between a bread knife and a sharks tooth type of serrated knife. So far it works pretty good on most things. If you only have non-serrated knives you should really get one for things like tomatoes & breads. This has a decent non slip grip on the handle that I like for when things get sloppy. The weight is a little light for my liking, but an older family member really appreciates the weight. It has a certain level of quality, but right out of the box I thought it seemed cheap. I bought this along with a 5pc Brewin CHEFILOSOPHI Japanese Chef Knife Set, which are of much higher quality, but didn't include a serrated knife. I guess the Cold Steel can be best described as a higher quality cheap knife. I've had it about a year and it's still sharp and seems to be holding up just fine. It is listed as a utility knife and that is a great use for it. I think for the money it's a good buy.

I recently acquired a Cold Steel machete based on the Japanese short sword with a tanto style tip, and was duly impressed with the workmanship and sharpness of that tool out of the box. I've been preparing a lot of vegetable based meals for my family, involving red cabbage and root vegetables. The pairing knives I have (both serrated and non-serrated) have not been adequate for the task, so ordered this 6 inch serrated utility knife from Cold Steel, and couldn't happier....it made easy work of a large red cabbage.....just sliced through it like butter. For the money (around $14), I doubt you'll find another kitchen knife that's better for slicing vegetables. The sharp blade and ample handle makes this knife a winner.

I had 2 new kitchen knives that I bought at Walmart that were dull right from the start. I had trouble even slicing tomatoes with them. It wasn't until I read reviews of satisfied buyers of this product, that I decided to give it a try and let me tell you, it is GREAT!! It slices though any food item so easily! In fact, it's very dangerous item to have around so if you do end up purchasing it, make sure it's stored in a safe place away from little hands and fingers. But yes, this is just what I needed for my cooking. I had enough fustration trying to cut with cheap dull knives. This one definetly does the trick. No more heaaches. I totally recommend it.

Great brand, the knife is not in discussion, I'm annoyed that the price changed right at the 30 day return mark. A partial refund would be nice.

Good strong knife to cut through almost anything. Good quality steel. Not the best looking knife, very simple utilitarian look. Grippy but plain plastic handle.

Have many Cold Steel, all the way from their high quality original products. This is the first one that I truly did not like. Just a cheap imported piece of junk in my opinion. Good profile and descent handle, but serations on the wrong side of the blade (unless you are left handed), and a thin flimsy feeling blade. Just not up to Cold Steel standards in my opinion. Would absolutely never buy this particular knife again.
